This may be a stupid question, but here goes. Does changing from 40s to 45s have any effect on speedo readings or the like? Robin

I've just done some maths!!!! Not sure if this is right but I make it that, on the same 20 inch wheels, one revolution of the wheel takes the car an extra 93.4mm (3.6 inches) on the 45 profile when compared to the 40 profile. The circumference of the tyre is 4% more on the 45s than on the 40s.

If you put larger circumference tyres on, the speedo will show a lower reading for the same speed.

Thanks Jonny, yes a Series 1. I bought her about 15 years ago and have steadily brought her back to original condition. Great fun! |
