Very slightly yes. I believe this can be "adjusted" ?? (or is that me adjusting the MPG figures?)  John

I've just done some maths!!!! Not sure if this is right but I make it that, on the same 20 inch wheels, one revolution of the wheel takes the car an extra 93.4mm (3.6 inches) on the 45 profile when compared to the 40 profile. The circumference of the tyre is 4% more on the 45s than on the 40s.
What this does to the speedo I have no idea Robin

If you put larger circumference tyres on, the speedo will show a lower reading for the same speed.

I had this on my old Disco 2 . On standard tyres it read aprox 10% higher (according to the Satnav and a couple of the local speed readouts). When I fitted larger all terrain tyres, it was dead accurate.

Nice sport that Tim looks great on those 20's and 275s.

Bigger tyres move the speedo yes.

My old Defender had 33" tyres on it and read true to satnav though.
Most cars read less than actual anyway.

Problem 98% cured on my range with a 4 wheel alignment.
2% being i have worn tyres on the front. They are also run flats which give a bad ride . Thanks all for the help.

Thanks Jonny, yes a Series 1. I bought her about 15 years ago and have steadily brought her back to original condition. Great fun!
