The 2.7 TDV6 is a much higher performance engine than the old BMW 3.0d in the old RR which was a bit of a slug. 07MY RRS TDV6

I think the 4.2 is a better designed engine though than the TDV6 2.7 |

I agree, a 2.7 will leave a BMW 3.0 standing, and if you add a BAS remap, then your not far behind the 3.0 Sport. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport. |

I went from a 3.0 TD6 FFRR SE to the then new 2005 2.7V6 RRS SE, chalk and cheese. Grumbly rattly BMW engine was not their finest and that was intentional as BMW were developing their better diesel engines for their then unannounced X5. The RRS was smoother, quieter and more economical. However, as you are only doing short trips then the petrol would make more sense. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've got a 2010 TDV8 and personally I think it's all the engine I'd need in a RRS. It's surprisingly nippy and sounds awesome. I'm not sure much extra performance would be wise or useful in this type of car. It may be called a "sport" but it's not exactly a sports car. The TDV8 can show a clean pair of heels to most warm hatches and overtakes with ease. |

I did all mine myself and it was a few months back now but if i remember they were not cheap. Probably looking at around £1500 in parts alone so best see if you can get one that has had all the bushes already. If the arms have never been off the bolts usually require to be cut off aswell which is a right pain.
