Hi all.

So my detachable tow bar on my 2005 RRS was seized. I did not have the keys so I bought 2 correct keys online, both snapped. It turned out the lock had seized/corroded. I eventually got the green handle off but the red collar also broke. The insides (metal long gear?) came out too. The tow bar is still stuck and I can't get the rear underside (spare wheel area) Pin to retract to allow me to remove the tow bar.

I have seen on eBay you can buy a new green handle but they don't seem to have the red collar on so will this work?
How can I remove the tow bar without the handle/gearing?
I have seen a lot of people saying you can't talk about a trick on removin the tow barnonline to stop theft but I have searched everywhere and tried (what I think) is every way of removing it lol.

Do you think it will be a full new tow bar?

Just to clear it up. The handle and internal gear gubbings have been removed. Now just the tow bar, pear shaped plate (with rounded Allan key screw) and locking pin remain.

How can i get this damn thing off?

I'll give it a go tomorrow. Do I just hit the pin from the spare wheel side? Do I need to do anything at the same time like try spin the gear?

I bought a new green handle when the key got stuck in mine
Its honestly never been used as some WD40 came to the rescue that time

I have stripped and cleaned 4 that I have owned, 1 that had not been off the car when I bought it for 3-4 years

although I am still trying to remember how you could have managed to remove the internals

Ah sounds like your the man for the job lol. Where are you located?

I spent hours trying I get it off, looks like it had never been off. All the internal lock parts were white and corroded. I basically smashed it to bits to get it out!

Tried smashing it with a lump hammer and screw driver but the pin won't budge. Used a full tin of wd40 too over a few days. Here are some pictures of what I have left lol.
