Slight metallic squeak when turning left...occasionally?!

This issue happens intermittently and I've only started to notice it.

When driving along at a constant 30-40MPH (might be doing this at higher speed, but its most noticable around this speed),
and put a steering adjustment from the 12 o'clock position to say around the 5 or 10'to position (as in make and hold a small correction to the steering to the left), the car makes a metallic squealing noise which is coming from the off side of the car (Front I think)

If I turn the steering wheel further left or recenter the steering, the noise stops but obviously comes back when I make the steering correction to the left.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi . I would maybe try and work out which side it is coming from ( a passenger comes in handy!) then jack that side up. Check for any play top to bottom or left to right and excessive movement . Also jack both sides up and move the wheels lock to lock to see if the noise appears only under load . Hopefully this would narrow it down to a specific area . Hope this helps , Paul

Update; I have located the squeak/squeal to the front offside wheel, and it can be heard occasionally when Jacked up and wheel rotated, the noise becomes more consistent the faster you travel. When the brakes are applied the noise stops...

The car has recently had new bottom arms, ARB bushes and discs and pads...

Anyone come across this before?

Could well be the backing plate behind the disc or the shims that the brake pads sit in have been bent . I'd take the calliper off on the side in question . Check the pads are sat right and can be removed and replaced using nothing more than finger power. While they're out of the carrier (the bit that holds the pads) have a look at the backing plate and pad shims........just be careful not to damage a pad wear indicator lead if it has them .

+1 for the wheel bearing, usually when I'm trying to comfirm a failing wheel bearing over the phone I usually ask the customer to listen when altering the steering angle slightly and/or braking to see if the noise changes/stops, you may find the noise only happens when steering in 1 direction only

Checked the stone guard, all clear around there!

The sound does only tend to be there when steering slightly to the left, - and does usually stop when applying the brakes.

Does this sound familiar sharpen?!

Yes mate, try jacking it up again but this time when you rotate the wheel apply some outward then inward pressure as you rotate it and you will probably feel the roughness, it will be easier to feel as it gets worse.
