Great to see how many "you are the first person to report this" comments there are from dealers. Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

They have done an update to fix this on mine. Will see how accurate it is when the car is returned to me. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

These various updates for different things keep cropping up, but surely LR should let all owners/dealers know about these updates, and on a service, update our cars automatically. Rolling Eyes
What do others think about upgrades and should they be done or notified. Question John

The official response would be "not all vehicles suffer from all issues". I think the reality is LR only wants to do it if the customer reports. Many wouldn't even notice minor things, let alone complain. This approach saves LR money and also they can avoid publicly acknowledging that there is a problem. Just my opinion.

Don't think this is a dealer problem as they have nothing to gain from it. They still get paid by LR for applying these updates and carrying out fixes. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

My RRS HSE MY16.5 (bought new in April) has the same issue, been fine until recently now loses 4 mins a month. Strange they don't use the time signal from GPS to keep accurate......
Will keep manually updating until service due next year and then see if there's a fix by then. Anyone had any feedback or fix from the dealers yet - other than the standard "never seen that before" response? Colin

thanks, downloaded the Topix article and will push in front of the nose of the dealer when the service is due early next year (left in glovebox so I don't forget!).

Interestingly I also downloaded the 'tank slosh' fix - which is still an issue on MY16.5 and I thought they'd have come up with a better solution or manufacturing change since my 2014 car...nope, still a sponge and a plastic bag! Not bothering to have fixed this time as I found the reduction in fuel capacity annoying more than the slosh! Colin

Colin do you know how much fuel is displaced by this fix. I would prefer to have a larger tank too.

Hi Steve
it reduced the tank size (on the MY14 car) by about 10 litres (2 gallons) but it felt like more in that the frequency of fill ups seemed to ramp up. Not sure how much difference it makes on the latest fix but it's several large pieces of foam that are inserted so guess it will be similar. Not going to bother with the fix this time around as the sloshing doesn't seem quite as bad - guessing they've put in extra sound proofing to mask it.
It's Tech Bulletin LTB00668v5 if you want to take a look in Topix

Cheers, Colin Colin

Just had the fuel tank slosh fix applied to my RRS, its a MY16.5. The Tech told me the displacement of the kit is about 1 litre.
So based on this I told them to go ahead. Still waiting on the car to come back from dealer., so will see how it pans out. D4 2012 Santorini Black gone

I have the same vehicle as you but have not noticed the slosh? Perhaps I have the stereo up to loud ? Is this somthing that is random or occurs on all RRS. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

It seems to happen at or near half full, the arrangement of baffles at this fill level allows the fuel to slop generating a loud slapping noise inside the vehicle, its quite loud when noticed and like some one thumping the interior of the vehicle.. Mainly noticeable at low speeds on braking or maneuvering.. It impacts most if not all all of the latest model RRS. LR have known about it for some time, but not applied a fix on the production line, just waiting on owners to notice it and then complain. I am informed there is a tech bulletin about it and certainly there is tech kit to "fix" it. LR gives about 4.5 hrs to do the job, but the dealer takes longer.. My vehicle has just been done, but as the car broke down today after collecting the car from the dealer and has more fuel in it than 1/2 I can not advise if it fixed it. D4 2012 Santorini Black gone

I did not notice it when the tank was full. I noticed a disconcerting delayed thumping sound when parking or stop start traffic.
I have the kit waiting for me at the dealers workshop, but I am having second thoughts, as I mainly use the vehicle when touring with big distances between fuel suppliers. Aussie Spec MY16 RRS SDV8 Dynamic
