DRL wring help and advice

Purchased a set a DRL's that I will be attempting to fit tomorrow to my AB front bumper

I have a facelift (2011) RRS, and just after a bit of help/advice with the wiring

Been told I can pick up a ignition live from the heated seat relay in the engine bay fusebox, had a quick look at this yesterday, and looks like I need to remove the cover to get to the wires, but does this mean I need to remove all the relays and fuses to do so?
I have also been told there is an ignition live in the headlights, so I'm hoping I can find this instead of using the heated seat feed.

The control unit for these DRL's is going to be mounted near the passenger side headlight, anybody know what pins in the headlight are for the headlight and sidelight positives? And if I can pick up a permanent and ignition feed from the headlight pins?

These units also have a indicator function on each side (which I'm guessing make them go out when indicating) so I have a cable that can be connected to the indicator position on each side, this might sound like a stupid question, but if I connect these to the positive of the indicator, will that work?

So for all the questions

John

DRL Wiring

If you go to Powerfull UK site they have a video showing how to wire up OSRAM DRL/Fog lamp units showing connections to the multi-pin connector which plugs into the headlamp units.

You don't have to remove the fuses and relays but you do have to undo and lift up the whiteish part off the fuse box they are fitted in to gain access to the underside and wiring.

I think the Pin No. for the headlight is No. 11 a Blue wire with a Orange on the drivers side as that is the one Overfinch use not to sure on the N/S though, not sure of Pin No. for Sidelight either.

Cheers

Thanks for the info Col, question for you - when I remove the headlights do I need to disconnect the battery 1st? I remember when I fitted the AB bumper I was advised to disconnect the battery before removing lights. But in doing this I won't be able to test the pins to find the sidelight and ignition positive? Or can you get to the pins with the headlights still attached?

Thanks mate

John

No you don't need to disconnect the batt unless lifting the fuse box.

There was a similar drl thread recently where the colours were given.

John,

Have sent PM and emailed some wiring diagrams that may help.

Cheers
