England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Siberian Silver
Goodbye from me too

Don't shoot me- but took a test drive in the new Ford Edge yesterday and really liked it. Did the maths, servicing costs, tax, etc and placed an order. Going to sell the sport privately so will going on Autotrader when I've finished polishing it.
Loved the old girl but was always waiting for the next bill, plus it was starting to feel it's age. That said- I can't remember having an 11 year old car that felt so good.
Thanks for all the help over the last 3 and a bit years.
Neil

Exactly my thought process in the other thread.

RR Sport running costs over and above something more modern:

VED/Tax 515
Fuel assuming 40mpg is achievable 900-1000
Annual service 500 (average)
Slush fund for mechanicals - 500 to the skys the limit Smile

So a fairly predictable 2000-2500 a year extra expense

In addition Im due 2 tyres soon - 500 quid

So over the next 2 years its looking like at least 5000 before I turn a wheel

I have ordered a BMW 335d Touring on a 2y lease with overall costs of 8000
It shouldnt need a service and if Im lucky will avoid tyres too, tax/VED is included in the lease

No way it compares but I just fancy a change and feel nows a good time to get out while the car still has some value and nothing huge has gone wrong Smile

0-60 in 4.8 secs will help

Cheers

Ooooooh niiiice - some tasty additions from the options range too I see

As much as I love things like my electric seat adjustment and adaptive cruise (and the rest of the RRS gizmos) they do cost a fortune to sepc and on a lease car are not remotely sensible

One thing I may splurge on is audio as the HK in my car is great
Looks like yours prob has HK- any thoughts on the standard setup?

Cheers

Ive just plodded my way through the 19 pages of the 335d thread too Smile

I'm off too. After having spent around 5k in the last couple of month on servicing / suspension repairs / new wheels & tyres I cant live with the constant fear of the turbo/ engine/ anything else crapping itself

Goes at the weekend for a Scirocco TDI, I know I'll miss the RRS but its an expensive ornament that has only done 4k in 16 months.

This is the reason I would never buy one without the LR approved warranty.Im on my 5th sport plus a few FFRR & it hasn't cost me a penny in all the time ive had them, ive not had many problems with them but when I have they have been put right with the waaranty,I haven't even put a set of brake pads on one yet,,as soon as they are out of warranty I trade them in.

Yes, I have to agree with you. I would never own a modern Land Rover product unless it was covered by a robust warranty.
