New to to the forum.

I am looking to buy a 2010 Black Range Rover Sport 3.6litre. But before going for it I have been looking at Autobiography bodykits which is one of the first mods I would like to get done.Just love the look and sophistication of the autobiography.

Anyway came across three firms Johnny Angel Customs, Fast Lane Europe Styling and DCC 4x4 who can supply and fit.

My problem is which Body kit Material do I use. PU or GRP (Glass Resin Plastic) this is more of a fibre glass.

I am exporting the RRS to Tanzania where temperature can rise to 33 degree. From what I have read online it seems PU bodykits can warp due to the heat. Fibre glass on the other hand can easily get damaged.

Anyone use a PU autobiography bodykit in hot weather conditions and it stayed fine?

Hope someone can enlighten me as this is the only thing holding me back currently.

I cannot help with your question on kits materials in hot weather, but as you have not yet bought the RRS then would it not make sense to buy an AB rather than the expense of a kit? Especially with such a popular colour as black? I'd guess the original AB material was well tested to cope with worldwide conditions, and I didn't think the price difference between AB and HSE was so great once the RRS was a few years old?

Its not that simple, I am after a Black or White RRS with Cream leather.

But the big issue is Taxation in Tanzania the newer the car more Tax to be paid hence why I only want a 2010 model. I have looked at AB but many seem to be conversions so I dont even know who did the conversion and importantly what was used.

By assessing all possible options I came to the conclusion its better & cheaper to do it myself.

My wife would not entertain a cream interior due to young kids, and I didn't want black (I like black cars but it's too hard to keep clean for me), but when looking for mine it apoeared like 90% of RRS were black with cream interiors... I just saw you had a Union Jack on your name box so assumed you were buying in the UK where there's an abundance of them.

Hi Guys

Decided to go for the RRS 3.6. Going to go down tomorrow morning and see if it all checks out. Its a 2010 model with 55,000 miles on the clock first 3 services were carried out by land rover then the next 2 by a 4x4 specialist and the last 2 and most recent one at 52000 miles by Land rover again.

Just been reading up on buying used vehicle guide. And it says cam belt needs replacing every 7 years or 105000miles. Well 7 Years will be coming up this coming January. So how much is that going to be a hit? Would need to try negotiate that off the price.

Any thing else I should look out for? Ive been told by a pal to look out for smoke from exhausts under acceleration because then the turbos would be on the way out. And listen to noises at low speed going over speed bumps don't know why probably suspension or something like that.


Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If it's a TDV8 it doesn't have a Cam Belt they are Chain Driven so no problem there.

I'm assuming it is a TDV8 , it's a diesel 3.6. Is petrol v8 also called TDV8 because I saw that petrol engines don't have a cambelt.

I hope diesel tdv8 doesnt need a cambelt that would be a result. If so is there anything else that needs replacing at 7 years mark.

And what optionals extras should I be looking to get. I don't mind about stuff like TV but more about must have optionals.
