Range Rover Stormer sport : black smoke & engine fault?

Hi Guys

I'm new on the forum but views regularly prior to now.
However i have a RRS 2009 stormer which upon putting my foot down even about 40 miles per hour the car goes into limped mode, next my system engine fault warning light come up on the dashboard but goes off once the car switch off.

Also their was lots of black smoke upon putting my foot down so i try putting some injector cleaner which stop it for a while then it start again.

I was told by a RRS specialist that the MAF sensor need changing?
Another one says it's the EGR need changing? However it only displays the code for the Mass air flow sensor every-time that i have it checked out.

Anyone have any ideas what could cause these problems?

Cheers
ChrisW

Black smoke upon acceleration often points to a loose connection (jubille clip) or split hoses on the turbo, worth checking as cheap to fix and also often very difficult to spot.

Not really heard of it throwing up engine faults, but it's definitely got to be worth checking first Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Hi

I had a similar issue on a L200, mitsi said maf sensor but turned out to be the sensor on the rail, also it could be the Fuel suction Control Valve (dunno if your engine has this?)

Hey guys

Thanks for your help along with all the good tips, the problem turn out to be the mass air flow sensor (MAF sensor) that was faulty and wasn't providing enough air to the engine. I have just taken it for a 20 miles round trip and it was great Thumbs Up

Many thanks.
