852 sounds ok for 20,000 miles a year if it's through a reputable insurer. You might get it cheaper but I cannot see it being in the 2 or 300s. RRS must be in a much higher group than a Disco as more desirable, and things like trick suspension and other expensive parts.

I'm with Flux and this year's price went up a bit to about 500 but I did increase my annual mileage to 25k. That's with business use and two of us named on the policy. I went with Flux because their policies cover off road use which most don't.

It is group 48 out of 50. So it is quite a high group, it all depends on where you live, your postcode can add hundreds to the price. How much NCD you have, your age if under 30 years old or over 60 years old both cause an increase in premium for this vehicle.

44 years old, full NCD, no accidents, claims or convictions, no medical issues, parked on drive.

Can only think of postcode if you can't get a decent quote. |

Try putting the start date for a few days time. I was getting good quotes (260 with Direct Line) then left it a couple of weeks till I'd bought the car and then the prices shot up for next day insurance. Luckily I had LR drive away insurance so was able to push the start date away 4 days and prices came down, a bit. I'm a similar age, driving length, NCB etc. and got 380 with Tesco insurance via compare the market, and that's with a wife who is 35 and own fault claim 4 year ago. Only 10000 miles cover though, and that's likely overkill for me. With the 4 days notice it was 300 with direct line but they insisted on a tracker - no need where I live, unless it's amphibious...

Johnski, I am with Direct Line as well. My first insurance policy for the RRS was when I was 59 years and 11 months. This was renewed at age 60 years and 11 months and the difference is 8.20, which they claim is the increase in insurance tax. Total cost was 306.20 for myself and wife (both over 60) and 15,000 miles per annum. Have full NCB as have never had a claim in 43 years of driving. I used Direct Line to insure my Porsche Cayenne when I had that car prior to RRS and they proved to be the cheapest by a country mile for that vehicle as well. Agree they DO seem to be very picky about locations though, as my son, who currently lives in central London, tried them to insure his Mercedes with them and they proved to be the most expensive by a long way! All the best, Old Jock 2018 (MY19) Jaguar F-Pace R-Sport 300PS Petrol in Caesium Blue with many bells and whistles. 2015 RRS HSE SDV6 Firenze Red with Santorini Panoramic Glass Roof, gone but not forgotten. |
