Dealer Servicing Requirements

As my recently purchased RRS is LR approved with full LR service, I will likely continue this for at least the 2 warranty years. So I'm interested in some points of what the dealer 'should' do as part of the service, other than standard oils and filters (of course I'd be checking these actually got done...I'm dumb but not stupid Very Happy )

A couple of days after collecting my RRS I found the offside rear door not locking so I returned to the dealer who immediately put a tech with me. No probs, I'd get it changed. So while with him I asked if they updated the ECU or other updates during service to which he said updates only got applied if suspected of causing faults. I didn't say anything but was a little surprised as I'd have expected that as part of what we were paying for. Surely updates are only issued due to errors/corrections found? Do I have any stance to insist on updates?

In particular I'm thinking of the well documented hesitance then full power when taking off quickly at a junction etc. (Scared the Censored *t out of me at first) and now I read online that updating to tune download SRO44.90.10 Casual may correct this - why not just install at service to keep people happy before we get annoyed? 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

If it's not broken don't fix it ?

I suspect LR have to pay dealers for the updates. Therefore if the customer isn't complaining about a symptom it doesn't get fixed.

If you want a laugh, download the tsbs £20.
Find out which fixes you would like and then goto the dealer and complain about the symptom on the tsb. You could use exact words Laughing

See if you get the fix stated.

I guess that could be the dealer thoughts, and maybe should be mine? Except I've always been a person who installs the latest firmwares and updates (phones, computers etc.) with the thought that there's a reason for the update. But for a dealer I guess it could just cause problems.

But is this not what I pay for in a service, for the latest updates? Can I insist that I want them? 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

A service is to change maintance items so your car will keep working for 10 years.

I think as part of the service they are meant to check for mandatory updates and perform them.

As I say, you may wish to read what is applicable to your car and try and get the mods done you want.

By buying one of the last of the range will mean most of the fixes have been incorporated at the factory.

What is tsbs? I've snooped in topix for free if that's where they are, but not sure what it is? 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine
