I've been very interested reading through posts regarding GraceNote CD listings and the 10 'slots' on the HDD.
I'd wondered how the car accessed GraceNote without an Internet connection, and assumed it must access via a smartphone, but the idea that it was permenantly downloaded onto the car, and therefore only as up-to-date as the last vehicle update made great sense.
But then tried to load a 2 year old album (Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack - a BIG seller, especially in USA) and it didn't recognise it - but then I loaded 'Now 94', which is only a few weeks old - and it recognised it, filling in all the tracks!?!
Am I rightin thinking it will be using the CD-Text on the disc rather than GraceNote in that case?

I was also wondering about this so would be good to find out.

For the disc cd text suggestion, would that not mean your Guardians if the Galaxy soundtrack should've worked also? Unless only certain cd's have cd text? Hopefully someone knowledgeable can confirm. 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Many CDs do not have CD Text I'm afraid, even some brand new ones don't, it really is luck it seems. But more don't have Text than do unfortunately.  John

That got me thinking... I've only added 5 discs and all had track names but I'd have been annoyed just seeing Track 1, 2 etc.

Track data can be added to a CD by burning a disc and setting it to add the data - see https://cdburnerxp.se/help/Audio/compileaudio

I never realised that, I have two Genesis Albums on my Hard Drive without text. I shall now look into it so I can add the titles.
It has been very annoying when you are playing discs that don't have the Text facility, didn't realise this could be done. Thanks.  John

Anybody remember tapes?

Jump in car (Dads car, it was CD's when I started driving ), eject tape to check it was suitable for accompanying persons ears, check side A or B, then check where the bundle of tape was to see what chance of hitting your favourite tunes on that journey...
