2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Help Needed - Sat Nav DVD Player

Hi Everyone

Newly registered here after reading many of the forum posts.

My wife's RRS Stormer Edition 2009 has recently developed an annoying fault whereby the sat nav and info screen glitches out, goes blank for a second or two then comes on again. Eventually it flashes up "Sat Nav Unavailable" before glitching out again, and then repeating the same fault. The car has been a big bone of contention and friction between us as since we bought it it has spent more time being repaired than being driven. The car only has 60,000 miles on it!

I suspected the DVD player, so went under the passenger seat and had a listen. You can here the DVD player starting up but then it clicks and whirs back down again, only to try again a few seconds later. In this faulty condition I can't even get the disc out as it refuses to eject. Today I took out the DVD player from under the passenger's seat and the glitch has gone. You can now access 4x4 info and settings and the screen is steady. Suffice to say I think I have identified the fault!

BUT just to be sure, I wanted to see if anyone here would be so kind as to let me plug my player into their car to see whether it is the same? I am sure this would not result in anything untoward but would confirm the fault. The trouble is that a repair on this unit (I suspect the laser) is (so I am quoted) about £250-300 which seems ridiculously expensive.

I have tracked down a replacement brand new DVD player from China at a cost of about £127. But before I take the plunge, I want to make sure it is definitely the DVD player at fault.

Would anyone be so kind to help me out? I live in the Fareham (Hants) area.

Thanks

Blue
