2.0 ingenium engine for RRS MY18

JLR says the four-cylinder 2.0-litre diesel engine is the smallest unit yet used in the Range Rover Sport, with a claimed 45.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 164g/km.

Named SD4 HSE, the Range Rover Sport with that engine manages the 0-60mph dash in 8.0sec and is the new entry-level option in the Range Rover Sport range, priced from £59,700. It replaces the 3.0-litre SDV6 as the entry-level model.

I've been running around in new Jag XE manual, I never managed 45 mpg Embarassed So in a 4X4 Question


 In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

My DS is claimed to achieve 53 mpg and is getting 35 so on that basis you'll be looking at 30 Confused

Imho the smaller engines have to work harder than the big engines and the figures are complete fiction - always got close to combined in the past but not now Sad

The 3.0SC V6 might be the sweet spot engine for many, especially as the movement against diesel increases.

I suppose the 2.0D will be do away with the two-speed transfer box in a bid to help the figures.

I can see the 2.0D being popular with the urban/school run crowd. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

Just a cursory look on the AB SDV6 section of the new configurator, the price has increased, but then 22" wheels standard, though I would remain with 21" wheels anyway. But lots of new colours and and bar Silicon metallic all at extra cost.
Spectral racing red with gloss finish I fancy but £6k extra!

The 2.0D comes on steel spring suspension. An RRS without air suspension! And they want £60k for it. FFS! Shocked Rolling Eyes Censored

You can add air suspension and 2-speed transfer box as an "off road pack" for £2500:

Cannot see any reason to release what sounds a lot of junk and already covered with existing range models.
Shouldn't ever be allowed to carry a RRS badge, it would be a right let down to the range. The Evogue is only a pretend LR.
Don't know why JLR are having about six models all looking virtually the same, complete madness. John

Considering I bought a fully loaded Black Edition SDV6 with a list price of £60k in 2013 and now you're looking at springs and 2.0 i4 with basic spec for same money i agree it's madness Sad

All these new options are going to confuse some dealers who were pretty confused before especially ref the pano roof as they didn't realise the slider on the AB was a no cost option.
But now the V6 petrol which costs more than the equivalent HSE by £1300 and has more emissions 243 v 185, marginally slower, presumably higher road tax, lists key features as having coil suspension and air suspension...and red Brembo brakes which are not available on the V6 supercharged which it is.
But I agree with Muddy Wheels, these are becoming price wise quite ott. I did put a deposit down last May for either a replacement RRS or a new D5. I cannot see me speccing up a RRS replacement Ab at starting price of over £80k plus options and the dealer offering me possibly £20-25k to swap after what is likely to be 23 months and 14k miles.

This will meet the specs for most as it will be a Range Rover and will have the pose effect most buyers seek. The fact that it won't do much will not matter these buyers are all about looks not function. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Sadly this is especially true of the majority of RRS buyers it seems. Big Cry

The (effectively) total lack of any off road equipment in the aftermarket for the RRS shows how often they do anything other than get polished. Censored Compare with the Disco (and increasingly the FFRR). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It is an excellent business model to be able to fund investment from the sale of overpriced Range Rovers while they can but they cannot surely continue to increase the contributions for less and with declining quality?
After 18 years I am looking elsewhere for my next new SUV, when I have warranty niggles fixed and sell up.

The soon-to-arrive Skoda Kodiaq looks like it will be great value. 7 seats, a good enough 4x4 system and decent fuel economy. It will likely be boringly reliable too if our Octavia is anything to go by.

I know the badge snobs will hate it - "it's a Skoda" blah blah - but it will show how overpriced and unreliable LR's products are in comparison. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
