Think I would take issue with that, same engines, same gearboxes, same ICE and electronic systems, same suppliers! Only place where they differ is the AWD systems. Air suspension used on the XF sportbrakes, so why does AWD contribute to the unreliability of LR alone? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I've been in a P90 and ludicrous mode is just that. By far the fastest launch I have experienced, even compared to superbikes I've owned. I considered one earlier this year, but 3 things put me off. As you mentioned, the dealer network is sparse, and from a friend that bought one, no better than JLR ones. The interior quality is poor compared to a premium European brand. It's very American, and Americans have never done luxury interiors very well. Lastly the range, whilst pretty good, would still be limiting. We're driving to the South of France later this week, and whilst we could have done it in a Tesla, it would have defined my route and is have to worry about charging once there. Certainly seeing a lot more of them about though. There are 3 P90D's withing 4 or 5 streets. Here's an amusing video demonstrating the performance of the ModelX. |

True the Germans are not much better but I switched from RRS 2011 simply for the MB 30 year breakdown cover anywhere in Europe. I used it once on a ten year old car with a front Spring broken in the Alps. One call to MB and they picked the car and us up. Put us in a hotel at their expense for three days as it was a week end and got the car repaired. Great experience that LR could learn from. I loved my RRS but travelling in France a lot where the LR Dealers are useless (had my RRS in the garage for three weeks) I was not prepared to risk them again. Real shame. They have become complacent. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard Previous 2012 FL2 liked but boot too small Previous to LR's 3 x Merc E320 estates - fantastic load carriers and long distance cruisers, ultra reliable. Only changed as needed a 4x4 high tow vehicle. Did have a 1955 early LR drop down windscreen and fuel tank under the drivers seat; again very reliable and super rugged. |

Just one person's experience here -- I owned 3 Audi's before my 2010 Range Rover Sport. All 3 Audi's were extremely reliable but some very minor things had to be taken care of under warranty. My LR is now 6 years old, has done 70k miles and has been just as reliable and in fact has been almost flawless. The biggest difference in my ownership experience is that the maintenance costs are significantly more for the LR and the dealers here in Northern California are terrible compared to my local Audi dealership. I still go to my Audi dealer to service my wife's SQ5 and it's a pleasure going there. Even with the higher ownership costs of a Range Rover Sport I am definitely buying another one. To me it's got something special and I love driving it every day. It's the sum of the parts. I'm simply waiting for the 2017.

The RRS was a seriously desirable car in its initial shape - nothing out there was like it. The new model could wear a Hyundai badge and no one would know the difference. But at least if it was a Hyundai you would pay 1/3 the price and no have the magnitude of warranty woes.

Wow, Meiang....I'm sorry about all your troubles with your RRS. Sounds like a horrible experience.

I reckon most of those issues are dealer-generated. Sure, the initial failure of an item is annoying but the likelihood of continual failures suggests that the bloke working on it is doing a bad job. I've had the same problem with a local LR dealership here. They messed up a number of "fixes" resulting in further "fixes" being required. They wrecked the steering rack requiring new rack and lower steering column, for example, when sorting out a turbo issue. The turbo issue was replacing one of the pair that had recently been put in by them when the originals failed at 70k miles (just after a service (by them)). It's now worked on by a specialist LR indie. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

We could really do with a list/guide of Specialist Independant LR Service Places, to help find one in everyone's area.
