To the OP, well done - it's always nice to find an easy and cheap fix. You should have done some searching on here - the boot switch corrosion issue is fairly well known and documented. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

My battery drain problem turned out to be a faulty door lock. Not only was my RRS continually trying to activate the faulty lock but I had inadvertently been leaving the car unlocked.
