Change my belts (Cam belt unsure what others?) @ 106,000

Hi All,

As a new comer to the fourms and the mechinical world i am hoping to seek some advise from fellow RRS owners and someone with more experience than myself.

I recenetly purchased a 2008 / 58 plate RRS (S Model) with HSE upgrades however the millage is now at 106k.

The service history seems good and the car had a new turbo supplied and fitted by landrover at 90k however does not state anything about the cam belt or other belts.

As i previously owned a 2011 range rover last year i would like to seek advise on what belts i certianly should look to change, is the main priority just the cam belt or do other belts also need a change?

I ask this as there are some devious mechanics out there whom just see ££ signs when one attends a garage for further advise and suggest work that may or may not be required.

I have a certain budget to stick to so if anyone reading this can also recommend a mechanic in the derbyshire or leicestershire area i would certainly look to proceed as soon as possible to ensure the right belts and work is completed by a component person(s).

Look forward to any advise, much appreciated for reading this post.

-- Edited:

As there is no record in the service manual and its past 105k and the 7 year mark, How could i know if the cam belt has already been changed as i am unable to contact the previous owners Sad

Thanks
Ben[/i]

The main belt to do is the front cam belt.

The rear fuel belt is usually done within the cost. (assess is a pain though)

The auxiliary belt may as well be changed at the same time as it has to come off anyway, and can't cost much more than £10

It's worth taking the plastic engine cover off and seeing if there is a label ontop of the cambelt cover to state it has been changed.

You need to weigh up the cost of having the belt replaced, against the cost of a replacement engine or rebuild, and then make your decision Thumbs Up

And the rest. An engine weighs in at £2,500 (ish) before fitting, new belts, fluids etc...

I have been quoted abut £500 for the front and rear belts to be changed, Would you say this is about right?

I have also been quoted £180 for new front disks and pads.

I dont mind paying for work to be done as the last thing any of want is our cars going wrong, I have seen a company in derby that are land rover specialists and have quoted to prices above so hopefully there as good as they come accross to be.

Now that may be worth thinking about. Bow down In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.
