GAP Diagnostic Announcement-2016-07-25-Apple App & More

Hello Everyone

First, we would like to thank all our customers, beta testers and the community for your continuous support. Many new additions were the results of your feedback and suggestions. We could not be where we are without you!

As many of you already know by now, a new App, version 2.9, for Apple devices was released over the week end. We’ve also released a new special firmware available for beta testers only at the current time. I will do a second post shortly showing each point in detail but here’s a resume of the new additions when using both the new App and firmware or using the new App only with an older firmware.

Top Bar (new and old firmwares): A new bar was added which shows the current connection and ignition status as well as battery voltage.

Faults function (new and old firmwares): Advanced Read
-Status bit flags default selection can be saved for future use
-Status bit flags are visible as icons on top of fault descriptors
-Status bits can be included in the exported emails

Height Adjust (new firmware only): A new and more intuitive screen to adjust your suspension height with default and saved settings. Contrary to our previous method, height changes are relative to the default height and not the current standard height.

0 -> 25: current height, 0 mm, or default in this example is shown on the left while the selected height setting (My offroad height in this example) is shown right, + 25 mm

20 -> -10: current height, +20 mm relative to the normal height (0 mm), shown on the left while the selected height setting (Motorway in this example) is shown right, -10 mm relative to the normal height (0 mm).

Height Control (new firmware only): This function allows you to remotely control your current height (Access, Normal, Offroad) and lower both axles to the bumpstops.

Suspension Calibration (new firmware only):
-New manual calibration layout
-New guided calibration function. This unique method eliminates the need for calculations, even ground and requires only one iteration. The whole process takes 5 minutes.

Guided calibration instructions:
• The first corner to be calibrated is the front left corner (1).
• Place your measuring tape as instructed and use the up and down arrows (2) to reach the required height (3).
• Once completed, click on Send (4). The next corner to be calibrated will now be high-lighted.
• Repeat the previous steps for all corners.

New Suspension Test Valve function layout (new firmware only)

Live values:
-All live values (PIDs) are now available for all supported vehicles (L322: except for older BMW type ECUs, new firmware only)
-Trigger function which allows custom audible or vibration alarm and automatic start/stop logging of live values. (new and old firmwares)

Trigger example:
• The live value increases and passes the Start target of 20 % (first red dotted line)
• Recording begins and the previous data is kept (2 seconds, as set)
• The Stop condition is met at around 6.5 seconds, hence the trigger indicator (red dotted lines)
• Recording continues for 4 seconds as set
• Enabling the Buzzer will generate a sound when the condition is met. Perfect when moni-toring live data. Can be used without using the automatic recordings feature.

-Favourite Fast Add feature which allows adding live values to favorite list quicker. (new and old
firmwares)

• Click on the star when viewing an ECU live values

1- Click here to create a new list
2- Current favourite lists are shown here
3- Click on the star to add the live value to this favourite list

-Layout improvements (new and old firmwares)
-Selection of which live values to be exported and viewed (logs). (new and old firmwares)

Car Configuration File (new and old firmwares):

-Complete CCF list can be edited upon request.
-Favourite Fast Add feature which allows adding configurations to favorite lists quicker.

ECU Info (new firmware only): This new layout is the basis for what will be the next step reflashing wise. It now shows which ECUs are up to date and those for which a newer version is available. If you are testing this function, please send us the results using the send e-mail button for our records. This will help us validate the automatic file selection algorithm.

An historic of each ECU Info scan is saved and can be recalled.

Tool Activation (new and old firmwares): Initial activation of the IIDTool can all be done within the App when the mobile device is connected to the internet. Additional licences can also be entered in the App.

New French version (except for live values and car config, new firmware only)

Documentation: The user manual was completely overhauled and will be released in the comming days in French and English.

Jaguar support: It is now possible, upon request, to use the IIDTool BT or Pro on 2008 and up Jaguars.

Work on the Android App is still under way. If you are using Android devices only, please do not update to the special firmware 2434 (English), 2435 (French) or 3630 (Pro English), 3631 (Pro French) and up since the firmware is not backward compatible with earlier App versions. You can, however, revert back to the latest beta if Android usage is required after using it on an Apple device.

Our current beta testers using Apple devices can benefit from these new additions by updating the App to V2.9 and IIDTool firmware to:

BT:
-Special Build 2439 (English, French upon request)

Pro:
-Special Build 3643 (English, French upon request)

We strongly recommend updating your mobile device operating system (iOS) to the latest version prior to using the new App and firmware.

As usual, feedback is more than welcome! For those who are not currently beta testers and want to test the new App and firmware simply send us an e-mail or a PM.

Cheers Thumbs Up

I tried it today. The top bar is very useful, especially the battery voltage. Previously I had to go into Live Values and select it in one of the ECUs just to check battery voltage. Having it displayed at the top all the time is very handy Thumbs Up

Looking forward to official release of the latest firmware. Hopefully I can enable some freebies in the CCF then Wink Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

received my IIDtool BT today, firmware update and activation were all very simple with excellent guides! my god there were so many faults stored that had never been cleared That bit is all simple enough but the height adjust is a little overwhelming for me, I think I messed it up but set back to default thankfully.

Would love a dummy's guide to changing settings, I basically want the access and normally values very slightly lower 10mm ish without changing the off road value!

Are there any other little quirky adjustments I can make to the car using the tool such as putting the clock in the dash and anything else useful?

Hello Wilson

A Land Rover without any faults code is not a Land Rover Wink

One can only adjust the standard height which is the reference point for all other height modes. You can, however, have different preset values which can be quickly called. For example, setting 1 can be -10 mm and setting 2 -20 mm. A few clicks will change the current point to either default, setting 1 or 2. The user manual is your friend, page 85, else, please ask!

https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/support/documents/IIDTool/

The clock on dash feature is also described in the document, reflash section, page 156. If you have a 2006 which I assume you have since you do not have the clock on dash, have a look at the BCM Body Control (3 turn flash), Bluetooth and Suspension flash which are also interesting.

As far as Car Configuration File settings, have a look and change them at will.

Cheers! http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

I had looked at page 85 briefly but the missus was starting to nag that I'd spent a lot of time on the RRS tonight so I didn't really take it all in... Rolling Eyes

Oh all sounds exciting, I will be having a read of all those extras tomorrow, thanks for the suggestions Thumbs Up

Regards
Wilson

I'm a bit worried about this 'flashing ecus' I don't like the bit that states Risk Level, followed by unusable Sad Not sure I've got the balls to have a go... I'll tackle most things that require a spanner, but ecus and electrics scare the hell out of me.

I'd prefer a dummies guide.. do this then that etc.. Embarassed Confused

Start with the low risk ones to get the feel of things. The BCM is the riskiest and prevention is key. Follow the suggestions and you will be just fine. http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/
