Full size spare wheel

Hi guys

Just wondering who chose this option?

Is it an actual alloy?

Yes, same size and style as the others, used it twice already!

Incredibly heavy to get out of the storage well though........... MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I never ordered one.

Price to get one now is £1400 from dealers but only £210 originally.

The funny thing is told the dealers to add it on the order but they messed this up so I have nothing in writing to confirm my above wish.

Similar price.

You must drive your car fairly hard if you've needed to use it twice already.

Screw through the tread - twice. Having a full sized spare saved me no end of inconvenience. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I took out some wheel and tyre protection policy so I should be okay.

You'll be OK for the cost of repairs, but without a spare, you could still get stranded.

A high speed blowout can shred a tyre beyond the capacity of the "seal and re inflate" canisters, and a reduced section spare means you are doomed to 50mph boredom to death.

Either is a big problem if you are driving to catch a flight/biz meeting or whatever. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

One of the major reasons for purchasing the car was the ability to have a full size spare. Australia has some pretty remote areas and as this is the "world's Best 4WD" I aim to use it. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

I have a full size spare for my car. Purchased a new alloy on eBay, from LR dealer to match other four, price £260 plus a new tyre fitted £190 so total cost £450.00, you often see second hand alloys on eBay at a cheaper price, and tyres is a personal thing, I purchased to match other four so wheel can go on any corner. Much better than Spacesaver, which came with car, never used, or the can of repair spray etc.
I also have one of the Anti Theft panels fitted and purchased through this Forum, heavy to get out, and I found it easiest to put suspension on off road, the extra 85mm makes all the difference. Thumbs Up John

Thanks for the reply John.

What are the anti-theft panels?

Due to the ease of cutting the lowering cable on earlier RRS L320, many wheels have been stolen this way. But with the anti theft plate, a neatly made piece of metal, hides all access so wheel cannot be stolen when parked up etc.
Member Ray designed the "RLD Wheel Protector" and makes and sells these units, there is a thread about it, but cannot find at the moment, his contact email is: ray@rld-tech.co.uk drop him a line for price and delivery window, well worth the money when you think of price of alloy and tyre. Thumbs Up

Edit: Here is one discussion thread: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic23416....+protector

Anti theft device not needed for the L494...the wheel is inside the vehicle.
