RRS TOTAL ENGINE REBUILD PROBLEM

Afternoon all....

New here but not new in the mechanic game.

I've got a problem I'm hoping someone could she'd some light on.

So I got a 2.7 tdv6 that I bought with a wrecked engine. So new crank, con rods, pistons, gaskets ect ect ect.

Engine back in yesterday after 3k spent and nothing. Turns over and over but no fire.

The only thing I can think of is the crankshaft sensor ring that sits behind the flywheel. It's also I think if I remember right part of the rear crankshaft seal.

There is a certain location for that ring I think.....( if I'm wrong please say) any one got any ideas if it's that that's not making it fire or is there some special thing I'm missing !!!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be good people. It's been months building it between other jobs and now the body is back on I just need it to fire so I can put my wallet down and keep my blood pressure down ☺

One other thing I just remembered..... it's got a brand new bosch battery on it which has 800amps and 95ah and the landrover one that was on it is 950amps and 90ah......... could that play apart as I've heard stories of these battery's being a pain.

Any help would be good

Thank you

Jon

I doubt its the battery.

Have you check the fuel pressure valve at the back of the engine for fuel ?

Afternoon Andy.

Yes the valve once pressed releases lots of diesel. The one that looks like a tyre valve.

For correct fitment, the crank trigger wheel MUST be fitted with the correct tool

If it's out by even just a few degrees, you risk a non start...

Hi

I used the correct timing tool for belt and crank lockout but I'm guessing your on about a different tool to set the rear timing ring ???

So the question is do I pull the body back off today .. remove gearbox flywheel and reset ?

Thanks for your help I'm in desperate need

Jon

Indeed. The ring will fit wherever you try, but it has to be 100% correct, or the cam/crank won't synchronise, and the engine won't start

Gearbox back off Big Cry

Hi

I really appreciate your help. I will take the body back off as it's half off already.

Where can I get the tool for correct fitment.

I just want this garden ornament or money pit fixed

Thanks Jon
