Carbon Clean

Spent the day at santapod today and saw some great drag racing, anyhow out the back they had a few car stands. One of stands was a company offering a carbon clean. Never seen this process before, basically they connect a hose with hydrogen and add it to the air intake and simply run the engine for 30 mins. Claims to be carbon detox for the engine, egr, turbos...

Quoting £100 for a detox, not saying it does not work but anyone tried it or can recommend it?

The science spiel was a bit too much for me about the oxygen -hydrogen rich mix dissolves and burns off the build up.

Doesn't diesel fuel also partially lubricate the engine? I wonder how these guys maintain the lubrication levels for those 30 minutes of running or is the hydrogen injected instead of "air". 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Add hydrogen to the intake? So they burn the hydrogen in the engine? Burning hydrogen just makes water (steam) so presumably they are using the steam to clean the engine. As hydrogen is fairly expensive and they will want to make a profit on their time too, I would guess they don't add much hydrogen. So not much steam is produced either. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The science is a bit beyond me but they claim when the hydrogen burns it reacts with the carbon deposits which vaporize and exit the exhaust.

Disco Mikey had his done to see if it's a load of Censored or not...... He measured injector values etc before and after.

They electrolyse water to get hydrogen (and oxygen) and then put the hydrogen in to the engine. Burning it is supposed to "react with carbon deposits" and break them down. I'm doubtful about it, I must say. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

That was a Terraclean. Still trying to arrange something with the Hydrogen (if only to see if it helps with glow plug removal ) Thumbs Up

I guess if you subject carbon to sufficiently high temperatures, it will oxidise and the result will be carbon dioxide.

Sounds like it's pretty new kid on the block, the tech guy says he had at least 3 cars a week come in with over boost issues, after a clean the faults clear. He had printed evidence of the exhaust gas stats which showed a before and after, tell the truth I was 99% signed up but then my scepticism stepped up.

The flyer states, Reduced Emissions, Most customer experience at least fuel savings of 5% Surprised Performance increase, cleans EGR, DPF, Turbo issues, manifold and injector issues. (if carbon fault related)

Disco mikey up for a scientific test? If I can find the 20% off your welcome to it, and a wip round I'll put in £20 quid if others want to see a test.
