When serving in the Met Police......It may be rare but I had to attend more than two fatal accidents, and in one pile up, the people in passenger seat where a vehicle had driven into side without person wearing a seatbelt (wasn't compulsory then) were alive, but the others wearing seat belt had died. This was put down to persons being held in seat, where non wearers were thrown across car, they did of course receive serious injuries. Wasn't Airbags as standard then either. So it is not always the case, often you use to see Class one response Police drivers mot wearing belts as it slowed up their departure from car at incident. Radio operator or second officer would no all wear theirs. Just examples from Court cases in the Past. John RRS MY12 SDV6 HSE. Sumatra Black/Ebony & Walnut + Dynamic Pack, + Cold Climate Pack + Memory Pack, Digital TV/DVD, Premium Leather, Cornering Lights, Cooler/Fridge Box, & most Options. I'm sure I saw when using my IID BT Tool, that there was settings to alter the "bongs" or turn them off in passenger seat, wasn't looking at Drivers seat.
