HI everybody

I need some advice please.

I have a whine which has put a steering wheel down my trousers, Its driving me nuts.

A whine which is noticable.
Its worse when the engine is cold.
the car doesn't need to be in gear, or rolling.
Its most noticable from around 1500rpm and gets more high pitch with increased rpm.
Its not the tensioners.
Nor the power steering pump.

Has any body experienced this before ?
I have a problem, can somebody help.

My whine is in the front pas seat
Can you tell where it's coming from on the engine. But could be timing belt/tensionere etc. If it's from the rear then it could be coming from the pump belt tensioner.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Its coming from the front, from the engine, I'm struggling to pinpoint it but if i had to guess I would put it about half way into the engine under the big pink arrow.

No loss of power, no smoke.

Usually the front passenger seat whines the most, although there has been whining in the back seats too

Are you sure it's not the fan belt tensoner as its on that side. The other pos is the alternator as its on that side. Might be worth removing the fan belt and running the engine.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Last time I had a whine from that area the alternator had died. Also had a charge fault light and smoke. MY08 RRS TDV6, Chawton/Black, sunroof, hk, 268k km
