A bit of advice.

New member here!

Have placed a holding deposit on a 2015 RRS HSE Dynamic with 4000 miles recorded from a main dealer. The car is not at the dealers premises and is coming direct from Land Rover. I have not inspected it yet.

The car is described as 'ex-management' and has been photographed in a white area, like a prep centre. I am concerned that this could be ex-rental, ex-Land Rover assistance courtesy car, or ex-Land Rover experience car. The registration number begins with OE and the tax ran out in March this year.

Apart from asking for the registration document before handing over the balance, is there anything else I should look or be suspicious of?

4K miles is very low, if you have the registration you may be able to check with a few sites, I would just ask any questions of supplying dealer myself. John

Could also be X off road car aswell. I don't know the current market but when I bought mine new the used cars were almost the same as new that's why I waited for the new one if its a few thousand different for a year and your own spec might be worth buying new still ?

If it is ex LRE then it will be Fuji White and I would have thought that it would have higher miles, they are exceptionally well looked after and at least as a used car you know that all the off-road kit has been regularly used. As an ex LRE car it will also have every single whizz bang optional extra as they have to be able to demonstrate all the toys on their cars.

Ex LR Management means that a senior manager has run it for 4-5 months as a works car, it also will have been well looked after.

Same if it has been ex rental, but I doubt that it would have been returned with so low mileage if it had been on a rental fleet.

On we thing you would have to worry about is that it has been on the press fleet............... Would you want a car ragged by 100's of motoring journalists? The Stig ragging it around a race track..........

As a 2015MY car even with a low mileage don't pay over the odds for it, it is a 15 month old car after all 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hi XFCAT,

For your information, all the LRE vehicles that I have seen or seen photographs of with a 65 registration have used the OY registration letters. So unlikely to be ex-LRE, although OE and OY are both Oxfordshire registration letters. As Tim says an ex-LRE or ex-LR Management vehicle will have been excellently cared for and have had all the foibles of the model and marque ironed out.

I would go for it, without hesitation.

Hpi the car , not sure if it will give you any names but it should flag up if it's been a hire car .
I would not trust the dealer as they will tell you anything to get your money. Possibly ex Royal fleet.

I've been very lucky so far, covered 20,000 miles and only things had to purchase is fuel etc. Very impressed.
The Warranty looks after anything at the moment, (unused) which evidently I can extend another two years, or go for the RAC type. John

Just to update this thread – went to view the car for the first time and, well, what a disappointment. I won’t go into details other than to say the dealer agreed with everything I said and promptly returned my deposit.
Offered me an incentive to buy a new HSE Dynamic so I am thinking about what to do.

Many thanks for all the advice.

Don't settle for anything less than free 5 year service pack and free lifeshine, we got both and a few extras like mats and goodies.

End of quarter and end of month in 3 weeks - sales bonuses are at stake if targets are not met. Orders are thin at this time of year when every one is thinking of holidays and not new cars..........
Not only do you want a good deal on your new car, you need a decent part exchange if you are trading in as well. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
