Driving with Broken Front CV

When driving offroad our vehicles have a propensity to break front CVs when at height and using tight steering movements under high load. When this happens I understand that drive is normally lost.

Now we cannot manually lock the centre diff but when rock crawl is selected the centre diff is locked so I guess drive can be maintained (ignoring the mechanical torture from the front) in rear wheel drive. However with Rock Crawl selected you will be stuck in low range with height and speed restrictions. Ok to get you out of trouble but not to travel any distance.

So I am looking to see if there is something I have missed here - with a broken front CV how can I drive home?

Vehicle too old and they do not go offroad.

We do proper 4wding here - not this whossy Green Laning stuff that has an M road or A road nearby. 07MY RRS TDV6

Why buy a 4WD if you are going to call LRA every time you are stuck , it makes me assume that the vehicle is purchased for pose effect rather than the function is was built for. These are supposed to be the best 4WD money can buy, and as such LRA will not be available where I'm going. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
