I've been looking into seafoam, I watched the video you posted and I'm not sure I'm convinced.

Also I don't think I like the idea of a product that either mixes with your oil before a change, with your fuel as an addative or squirted into the inlet as a top engine cleaner.. seems too good to be true, I mean next they will claim it cures cancer Rolling Eyes

I agree a lot of the stuff IS snake oil but let me rebut by showing you this video.

This further adds to my opinion that Seafoam has a minor impact on the actual buildup, however on a high-mileage engine the carbon deposits on the edges of the piston act similar to the piston ring, actually helping in creating the compression if the rings are worn.
While in no way the carbon deposits are good for the engine (and I stand by my opinion that it's ok to start with seafoaming from new), it's worth knowing that adding such stuff to an older engine can actually make things worse... Regards etc.,

Hey guys, I'm not trying to convince anyone. I'm merely showing you what convinced ME and this is all for your consideration. Not interested in a long drawn out debate. You form your own conclusions

I believe this is one of the few reasons internet forums were invented - to debate and draw conclusions... Don't take the doubts personally, because it's not about anyone. Regards etc.,

I agree but there's nothing more to debate. It works for me, I like it, I'll do it again in a year and that's it. If you want to try it, go ahead (Nothing bad will happen to your engine) but I'm not gonna try to convince you. You take what you've read and what you've seen and make your own decision. Also, this has been debated TO DEATH on other sites but I've never seen it applied to the 2010 5.0 SC engine hence the reason behind my posts Smile

Ive had a similar problem today on TDV8, for no reason engine fault came up on dashboard and lost some power. Stopped the car and restarted and fault went away. Ive an OBD reader and checked at home with no fault codes. If anyone could give me an idea would be helpful

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard, Can't help you with your problem, but you need to get the fault codes read properly just in case, at a dealers or with unit as mentioned later, as many of the sub £200 mark Code Readers miss a lot of info. Crying or Very sad
If you were using a unit like the GAP Diagnostic Tool IID BT, then you haven't got any logged fault codes IMO. John

Thanks Johnski, it's an autel OBD reader. Saw some other posts saying that as well. Unfortunately looks like a trip to the dealer already, need to change the dashboard language as well
