Courtesy car

Hi all,

So I'm having my 2010 RRS TDV8 sent to Lookers Landrover Battersea for some Technical Bulletin items to be updated along with a recall item for the detachable tow bar (as advised by Land Rover customer services. When I agreed to take a courtesy car they said it's £35 and how would I like to pay. I said I'd like to not pay at all! Am I being tight here or is it usual to have to pay for a courtesy car, especially as my car is being sent in to have items fixed because of a recall/technical bulletin?
Thanks!

It's a dealer or dealer group thing rather than imposed by Land Rover. Some LR dealers charge this but others don't. I know Lookers Park Royal also require an "admin" or "insurance" charge for a loan car. While I don't remember the exact figure (as I didn't take it), I am sure I was quoted less than £30 per day.

I don't think you are being tight. I don't agree with this either. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

£35 does seem a bit steep- I used to pay a tenner when I had courtesy cars from Audi, just to cover the massive standard excess that was on their supplied insurance.

I had my RRS serviced last week and the courtesy car (65 Plate Evoque - Manual, with 485 miles on the clock) was free.

There is no way that I would pay for a courtesy car. In fact it is just a hire car if you have to pay, there's very little courtesy there!!

I got a nice E class cabriolet for 2 sets of 2 days for free from a small indie near me, they even dropped it off and swapped the cars back for me on the drive when they finished. Surely if you pay it's not a 'courtesy' car at all! I'd have said the same as you.

Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

Always get a loan car from Hatfields in Pickering, no charges other than it comes back with the same amount of fuel as it goes out with, and of course no dents or scrapes. Generally get a newer RRS MY14+ than my older mk.1 2012, so cannot complain at all. Very Happy John
