Just bought lovely range rover or so i thought

Hi newby here i have been lurking around for a while now so i thought i would say hi. I Purchased a 60 plate RR sport with 90,000 on the clock and only 2 owner on the 29th april the car looks really good on top but on getting car home i new it wasn't right so got it checked and its bad underneath, all the bushes are goosed and a whole list of over stuff . i know i should have checked under car but with my disability i couldn't so i just took dealers word it was ok . Apparently its got a lot of salt water corrosion, dealer saying he will send to land rover specialist to sort but i just dont know what i should do, this should never have past an MOT in this state but it came with a new one and not one advisory . Just a couple of pics to show some of bad bits, thanks jim

It probably would pass an MOT. But if you want to keep it for many years you maybe best to try and get rid of it.

Sorry to hear of your problems, but you should bought from a main dealer you may pay more but the cars tend to be in better con and you may have more clout if you get problems. If you buy from an indi then check it over especially underneath. If you carn't do that yourself then take somebody who can. Good luck.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

You're within your rights to reject for full refund I believe as you've had it less than a month

Yep exercise your right to a refund if you're not happy and fear the worst. Might be an interesting conversation with the dealer but you're legally entitled to it.

Hi,cheers for the advice i have been onto the dealer and car is getting picked up today and is going to an independent land rover specialist to get looked at, hopefully all issues will be rectified but if not the car will be rejected . Its a shame as it looks excellent and is a nice drive .

That's what can catch people out, they all look good and drive well. On the plus side if you reject this one, the next will be just as good but hopefully without the issues Thumbs Up 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Yeah i hear what your saying but its a late 2010 60 reg and around where i live (the biggest cul de sac in europe) this would be 24k -25k car i got it for 19k so if all repairs are done correct when i trade it in next year for a 62 plate RRS i should get a decent trade in on it (i hope) i hate dilemma's .

I hope your right Confused

I traded a MY10 for a MY13 and thought I'd been robbed until I tried to trade the MY13 Shocked

Regardless the amount of rust on your pics is the tip of the iceberg - that's what you can see but what about what's hidden? If this has been used for instance to launch a jetski, boat or similar in the sea I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole and I'd want to know what the so called LR specialist is going to do - these forums are full of waxoyl coated disasters done by specialists Rolling Eyes

Are they renewing the brake pipes for instance or hiding them.

I would walk away and you'll find a better one I'm sure Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Good news the rust bucket has gone, i decided to put it through another MOT just for my peace of mind and it failed on both arm bushes with advisory on fuel lines corroded! MOT tester told me its been sat in deep water for a long time as rust line could be seen on each corner so good riddance to it now i just need money back of dealer. Just seen it back on his website for sale probably with another dodgy ticket. Any way i am off to see this tomorrow so hoping for a better standard rover this time i will be all over it like a rash lol
