United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Firenze Red

My RRS went for its first service yesterday and I was provided with a 65 plate Evoke manual. I have to say I found it a pretty dreadful car to drive altogether. It felt extremely claustrophobic, the view out of the rear window was pathetic, the interior fit out was poor quality and it felt underpowered. Also, having to drive a manual for the first time in over 10 years did nothing to endear the vehicle to me!!!

I had never considered buying one in the past, and this experience merely confirmed my decision.

The one positive comment I had on the Evoke, I forgot to mention!! It was equipped with the latest version of the Infotainment System. Much faster to respond, clearer graphics and an improvement on the old GPS system. However, the radio was not as good as the the music system in my RRS. I guess now you have to purchase the Meridien system to get decent sound quality now.

Was it the same for you, Mr Rusty?

2016MY Evoques and DiscoSports now get a low cost Alpine system as standard, you can still have a Meridian system but you pay dearly for the option. Pity because the 825w system I had in both the Evoques I have owned was superb, the 380w Meridian in my RRS isn't quite as nice but it is still 100% better than what comes as standard now. Also IIRC the CD/DvD player has also been removed as people prefer to use the USB or streaming rather than disks these days. I suspect also it is part of the cost cutting to keep the prices rises down.................... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I can't see any evidence of the "keeping the price increases down" on the RRS2 Tim. Whistle

England

Very happy with std MY16 sound system I have and no cd but never used it in 2 previous RRS - sub woofer distorted badly and rattled in my last RRS but no issue now and good sound quality

Owners who paid the extortionate upgrade price for meridian on DS are complaining it's rubbish and they have lost features on std system Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

You are right Jock, it was a better system, it was quicker, better resolution screen but also very similar in functionality. What I mean is it didn't really add anything I would think was worth having on my RRS. Sound? If u could hear anything about the 'van' like engine you mean! Rolling with laughter tbh I don't listen to music much and didn't have it on for too long to notice, but road and wind noise was a constant noise in the cabin anyway.

Sounds like you and I came away with the same 'bluurrgghhh', is that it?. opinion.

Yes, simply not used in our car anyway and I suspect in most others with BT or USB connectivity.
