We've got a face lift sport in and it says smart key battery low, we've replace the battery but the mes is still coming on, on start up. Have tried lock/unlocking the car etc but made no difference. Is there some reset or anything we need to do ? 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

When I replaced the battery in mine, the message stayed on for a few days and then went.
No idea behind the logic of it. MY13.5 Autobiography, Santorini Black, Privacy Glass. Gone

There was a advisory letter sent to all LR dealership about problems with batteries,
But that was due to people using a known good battery or a working battery from another key fob,
You must always use brand new, unused and from a sealed packet.
I'm not sure why this should make such a major problem, but there you are.
If you have. Used a brand new battery from a sealed pack, then I have no idea I'm afraid. Crying or Very sad John

Agree with Johnski. I put a brand new unbranded battery (multi pack kind) in and it still showed battery low. Replaced it with a brand new Duracell, out a sealed pack and the message went. Cheers

Title 10my `Smart key battery low` message displayed in instrument pack message center
Category Electrical
Last modified 05-Apr-2012 00:00:00
Symptom 204000 Instrumentation
Content Vehicles affected, 10my Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery4/LR4

Issue
When the " Smart key battery low" message is displayed in the instrument pack message center dealers are complaining that after a replacement battery has been fitted the message does not disappear. The dealer then replaces the key in the belief that the key is faulty.

Cause
Dealers are swapping batteries from known good smart keys to diagnose battery low message or fitting aged batteries off the shelf. The message is displayed when the smart key voltage threshold has dropped below 2.44 volts. The message will clear if the smart key battery threshold is higher than 2.95 volts.
Note: these voltages are only measurable when the battery is inserted in the smart key.
Action
When the " Smart key battery low" message is displayed in the instrument pack message center dealer technicians and customers must fit a NEW still in the packet battery.
Under no circumstances should you swap batteries from a known "good" smart key.
LR part number is YWK10003L. (battery type CR2032)
Please note: CR2032 batteries stored in high humidity +75% & at high ambient temperatures greater then (+25degC) will greatly reduce its shelf life.
After replacement of the battery two smart key authentications need to take place to clear the message and to recognize the new battery voltage.
This is achieved by pressing any button on the smart key twice.
If the "Smart key battery low" message does not clear in the message center fit another new battery and retry.
If the "Smart key battery low" message is still present please replace the smart key, submit an EPQR and retain the smart key and all associated batteries for investigation. Please label the original battery and replaced battery separately.

Cheers
Col
