well the DS doesn't have the air suspension, is smaller and not gear towards competing with the RRSport, so will be different

I had a manual DS as a courtesy car for a day or two. Also test drove an auto one. Impressed by the space and value for money but coming from L320 we could not bring ourselves to buy it. Felt similar to an Evoque which I also don't like Neutral There is a reason they cost much less than a Sport so shouldn't be compared. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I sold MY13 Black Edition RRS but very happy with MY16 DS and the £30k I saved, 5 years servicing for cost of 1 years RRS, £130 rfl pa, a more modern design LR, bigger boot, more rear legroom, panoramic roof, etc Confused

I hated the Ewok Shocked

I admit the SDV6, air suspension and front seats were better but for me not worth the extra money Embarassed

Interested to know what you didn't like though Question Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Well I meant engine- and drive-wise it IS very similar to Evoque which makes sense as they are the same underneath, based on the same platform. However, from a looks and space point of view I find the DS much better indeed. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

The Ds felt plasticey , the engine nolsie , no arm rests no seat adjustment apart from a lever on the side , and that stop start all thow I could see the ideal it's not for me, the battery, starting motor, and break down of engine oil through the constant stop start, by the way can you turn the stop start nonsense off? I must have been given the bottom ender I suppose the Hse model would be better ? Think I will keep with me sport.

Auto stop/start can be turned off every time you get in the car and it isn't DS specific. All new models have that. I used to disable it as soon as I started the car but have learnt to live with it. It actually does work very well and doesn't kick in unless the battery has sufficient charge. Definitely saves fuel and emissions. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

If you push it hard the engine is noisy but driven normally no worst than SDV6 just more economical

Yes the inside looks cheaper as reflected in the price

The stop start can be switched off each journey - I presume RRS is same

Hse must be better from what you've said Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

RRS has had stop start for a while now, works well. It also worked well on my last Evoque. When I first encountered it I thought "Jeez, this is awful" Now I have it and have had for 2 years I've never switched it off (yes you can disable it with the switch supplied by LR!). I have no experience of the Ingenium engined Evoque or DiscoSport but I have have owned two Evoques with the 2.2 unit and there was nothing wrong with them refinement wise. RRS Stop/Start can be switched off too, but mine has never been pressed in anger! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

There must be something good about both as they both out sell RRS, Disco4 and FFRR by 3 to 1, and for what you get they are expensive cars and Disco Sport now outsells Evoque................... So many more buyers for them cannot all dislike them! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It was the engine in the Evoque that was the worst. Interior was less 'plush' that the RRS sure, but I guess that's is expected. Suspension was harsher for sure and seats Imo were not as comfy. Far less room and head room was way less. It's a matter of cost difference but I'm spoilt now with my RRS. 2015 RRS AB SDV6, Fuji White, Ivory
