Thinking about blanking my egr?

OK I know it hasn't been done but I'm now thinking of blanking my egr valves. Problem is as It's a 2009, I'm pretty sure it will need a software update. Is this something only a dealership can do? There are no locals specialists I can ask about this that i know of.

A dealership will NEVER allow your EGRs to be blanked, not to mention installing new firmware that does not include the EGR routines.
Search the forum and you'll find people who can do it properly. Regards etc.,

There are a couple of Alive Tuning dealers not far from who, who would be able to install the required software to disable the EGR valves. Give them a call for more info Thumbs Up

Just thinking of doing the same to my RRS 2.7 2006. Do I need a software update for that year?

When I had my 2005 MG ZT/ R75 Diesel (BMW) Tourer, the removal of EGR and fitting the blanking plates etc, available on EBay, the power increase was just over 15%, ran much better and still passed all the emission tests for MOT, so I can see why people do this, of course the ECU and electronics are not so advanced on those models. I dare say no point in doing this to my RRS 2012? John
