United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
what would you spend 50k on (good residual important to me)

Hello,
A bit random I know but if you were going to spend 50k on a RR sport, what model and year would you go for.
I have a nasty habit of selling cars after only a couple of years, so i prefer something that has already done its depreciation (as far as can be).

It's a second car so only would do around 8k per year so if it has a few miles it wouldnt be a biggie for me.

I like special bits, i.e. body kit etc. but not essential.

It's such a minefield out there I dont know what to do?

Thanks upfront,

Craig

50k is now getting close to the RRS 2 BUT without doing a little researching I believe it will only get you in too the lower spec model in the range.
I recently changed mine & I do like the gadgets Whistle so went for the AB with rear entertainment - dual view Infotainment centre & all the other Autobiography refinements including sunroof Wink I would have liked the surround camera system & ebony headliner but gave up looking - waiting Laughing
IMO the new shape is the better looking Sport but you get one hell of a lot of vehicle in the RRS1 - decisions - decisions Big Cry Big Cry

Good luck whatever you decide Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Thanks for the comprehensive reply.

Your wheels sound nice.

So are we saying that an early RRS 2 would be more than the 50k if i am wanting a decent spec?
I saw an urban sport but it was well over budget, are these newer cars?

TBH its not me who will drive it but my missus, we have a 2007 TDV8 with HST kit and its in really good nick for age, albeit a bit leggy at 112k, so I am looking to upgrade from this and i know I will have to put in quite a few ££s

If your in no rush - do a little window shopping - I often visit the approved used Landrover site but haven't gone looking for the RRS2 - unfortunately my budget ends at £45k - any more & my Mrs would divorce me Laughing
If your mileage is low then a higher spec RRS2 with higher mileage may be the sensible choice - you are then in the newer model & the mileage will even itself out come resale time Thumbs Up
I have nothing but compliments & envious glances most places I go - I have looked at swapping into BMW's & Jags but having test driven them - I always end up upgrading the Sport for another Whistle I know unless I win the lottery it will be a while if ever that i can purchase a brand new RRS. With that said I am more than happy with what I've got & so is the Mrs Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Good advice, I will keep looking.
I'm not in a rush. i wasnt looking at a new RR but I have been looking at upgrading my own car which is a Porsche Cayman S, I use it as a daily driver and I thought I would upgrade to a newer model. i looked at some and I couldnt justify the uplift cost so i'm considering keeping it for a another couple of years and changing the range instead.

I want something that is more sporty, so i can drive it as well as the missus.

I know it's an extravagance but I hear that you're dead for ages these days so hey ho Very Happy

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Bit of a curveball here, but a late plate Defender 90 XS or one of the run out Adventurer 110's .............. They are expensive now but the price drop over two years will be glacial! It would be no competition for a Cayman BUT so much more fun to see over the hedgerows at a lower speed and they are fantastic to take off road. It's not a Sports car by any manner of means but get a Twisted Performance Handling pack,ECU and intercooler upgrade and you will never loose the grin and you will surprise quiet a lot of sissy sports cars when you welly it! Oh and even in a 90 you can carry the wife and all her shopping Rolling with laughter If you are really daring you can even have a 90 with a soft top. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

£50k would get you an absolutely spanking 80in Series 1 with loads of cash to spare for a really good Mk1 MX5 to thrash around in. The S1 is an appreciating vehicle which is great to potter around in with the canvas and screen dropped. Very cool, looks great, get a smile where ever you go. The MX5 is an excellent, cheap, sports car which is pretty much at the bottom of the depreciation curve.

Buy a RRS and you will lose money and lots of it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

what would you spend 50k on

A new product line from China and spend some of the profits on a lease car while putting the capital back where it came from.

I wouldn't put £50k of real money into a Land Rover product. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available
