Rear interior lights

Hi All,

On my 2010 RRS TDV8 (if that is relevant), is it possible to have the rear interior lights (fitted in the headlining) come on when the doors are opened? At present they remain off if I open the doors and only come on if you switch them on individually. The footwell lights come on fine.

Any ideas?

You run a wire from the boot light and add a diode

I did this mod today as I had the headlining loose.

A few pointers from me.

1) For those of you fishing wires from the light to the side of the car/door. Please note this is blocking the curtain airbags. I'm not sure what would win if the airbags went off. The airbag I guess/hope.

Therefore I ran the wire directly backwards to the rear and then followed the factory wiring down.

2) For swapping the wires at the light connector. The pins can be removed very easily to swap them round.

Remove fuse 1 (top left behind glovebox)
On the connector:-
Unclip plastic at the wire end.
A plastic piece then slides off side ways to expose metal contacts.
Note which wires are in which terminals so you manage to swap them! I think green was in 1. Black in 3.
At the end of the terminal push the metal tab down and pull out.
Remove the other wire.
Lift the metal tab up a tiny bit.
Refit wires reversed.
