The beast has arrived

Having placed my order in September / October last year (so long ago I'm struggling to remember), I finally picked up my new AB 5.0 (not the SVR) on Friday.

After lots of stressing over the colour and changing my mind lots, from Santorini, to Barolo, to Santorini, to Corris, and agonising over Corris vs Carpathian, I stayed the course with Corris grey and Stealth pack. Never saw this combo in the flesh so was a bit apprehensive that I wouldn't like it when it turned up. Backup plan if I didn't like it was to "de stealth" it and change the wheels to the standard silver.

Thankfully, it's awesome! Much much better than I hoped and much better in the flesh than any photo! It really suits the car and looks mean and moody.

Put a few extras on it: all the parking assist options, cameras, soft close. Was tempted by the HUD but skipped it since I decided I didn't need traffic sign recognition or lane departure (I 've managed without the past 15 years), so I couldn't see that there would be much info to show on the HUD.

The 5.0 is impressive - goes like a rocket and you can really feel the power. Obvious downside, I'm only doing 22mpg on average. And last point, glad I went with the 21" wheels rather than the 22s - again the 21s look a lot better than I imagined from the configurator, and saved myself £1K, plus better ride comfort.

Had a huge smile on my face when I went into the office with it right after collection!

Without further ado, photos below. And thanks everyone for all the help and feedback on colours!

22mpg,,,,I'm only getting that out of my 2012 sdv6,,that's why I'm after the 5.0 as I don't do much mileage & only use car at the weekend so it will be nice to drive something with a bit more power.

Hey man, you're in Aruba? Heading there next month for a quick getaway. Where is the LR dealer?

Hey - I like Aruba too!

The colour, that is. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
