DPF and high revs

I live in central London. I've had the car from new for just over 6 months and had the damned Amber light on a few times now. Most recently it flipped to red within just 48 hours and I had to send it to the garage.

It's mostly used for ferrying kids short distances and it's far from simple to get it onto a road where you can drive over 40mph for 20 minutes. If the Amber light gives me a week then its not a problem, but if I'm only to get 48 hours on occasion then it really is.

So my query is, if I drive the car at high revs by keeping it in second for a while will the car clear itself to avoid me having to go on a forced long run the moment it comes on? If that's not allowed or won't work, any other tips would be gratefully received. And finally, does the stop start ignition cause the dpf to fill more quickly or clear more slowly and therefore should I switch it off when Amber appears?

Cheers

John

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I had this on my wifes Insignia, modern diesels are not designed for just communting, they need to be blasted to clear the filter, when my wifes light came on, I had to drive it about 25 miles at fast motorway speed before the filter regenerated. A trip round the m25 once a month should keep it running smoothly 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))
