Looking at TDV8

Hi all
I am going to look at this today
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182102237096?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT

I hear about the turbo failures, but in reality how common is this?

A warranty is definitely a must for piece of mind...

This has full LR service history, but is on 90k miles - but should this be less of an concern regarding turbo failure?
Cheers
Rich

It's one of those how longs a piece string questions had mine 3 years no problem but others have had. All depends on how you look after ie let engine idle after each run to let them cool done don't over rev from cold, regular oil and filter changes with good quality oil do mine every 5k.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Only advice I can give regards looking the car over is apart from bangs and knocks etc is to have aloof underneath as best you can check the DSC pipes for corrosion (so you'll find them on the o/s chassis rail fitted to a valve block level with the drives door) evidence of off road damage though not a deal breaker as this is what they are made for.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

At 7 years old is it not due a cam/timing belt change? It isn't up on miles but getting close on elapsed time. Have a look under the bonnet to see if the EGR's have been blanked. Also get hold of the VIN and ask your nearest friendly LR dealer to look up it's service history............. If it has been loved and cherished as is stated then it should have a comprehensive LR service history. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

TDV8 has a Chain not Belts Tim, so no need to worry about that.

It's unlikely that the EGRs have been blanked as it's a relatively recent thing and requires an engine mapping to do it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
