2.7 TDV6 wouldn't Rev

I got in my car this morning and when I pulled away I couldn't get it to go above about 1200 rpm even with my foot to the floor, I stopped and parked it, ready to get on my bike to go to work instead, then when I went to move it back into the drive it was fine, doesn't sound like it's running rough or anything, only fault that is in the system is the EGR valve, could that cause this?, have got my blanking kit and plan to put it on at the weekend, but might have to be sooner if it does this again!!.

It now seems fine after EGR blanked off, seems to sound a bit throatier at idle and if you Rev to say 1100 now, I guess that's because the butterfly valve has gone.
