Newbie Need Help

Hi guys, just been out on a test drive 2day and considering a 06 4.4 hse.

I drove a diesel last year and wasnt impressed at all and it really put me off the car to be honest. But i couldnt fault the looks of the RRS so i decided to look at the new SC HST, they had a cancelled order but also had a new petrol HSE which is available to drive away, pretty well spec'd as std anyway but with a few extras. Got offered a few quid off list only problem is its silver and i really wanted a Black........

Any advise on the best model options ect

To buy a 4.4 petrol you should be getting about £4k off list minimum. And even then the car would depreciate faster than it could drive. Shocked

Suggest you test the Tdv6 after it has been turbochipped or get your deposit down on a Tdv8. Razz RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Aint that a Range Rover thing......

Like i mentioned i drove the TDV6 and was seriously un-impressed, i found it really sluggish. I didnt think any RRS was losing money just now Confused 03 X5 3.0 Sport

Considering the dismal gas mileage, I would imagine a non-blown, non-diesel Sport in the UK would have very limited appeal, whether used or new... If you can afford the supersized bills at the pump, you can surely afford to spring for the SC and have a lot more fun with it (whether in HST trim or not is your call), or wait a few short months for the TDV8, which will likely offer similar performance and be a much better long-term investment. I agree with Smarticus, unless you get a huge, too-good-to-ignore type of deal the 4.4 liter doesn't sound like a good buy in the UK - I bet your dealer has been sitting on that car for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love the 4.4 liter engine (I own one), but live in the US where petrol is still cheap - relatively speaking, of course - and diesels are not even for sale. Wink

Yep.. the TDV8 will make the 4.4 engine more of less redundant anyway.. demand a massive discount off the 4.4 HSE, they prob will have difficulty shifting it nowadays..

What is the release date of the TDV8 in the uk? Im interested to here what the UK guys think of the residuals of the Petrol models.

What id the preformance of the diesel TDV6 when chipped, estimated 0-60 BHP ect. 03 X5 3.0 Sport

First build slots for the TDV8 = Nov ish, and first couple arrive in dealers in dec, as i've been told by various dealers anyway.. more models roll out for jan 07.. some dealers have fat waiting lists, others have none. Im still thinking whether im going to go for one or not.

Yes almost V8 power, now kicking out between 240 and 250 bhp, but the real difference is mid range where it now takes off like a scalded cat!
No where in the league of the SC but then I don't have to tow a Tanker behind me?
If you can afford the running costs go for the SC, if not wait for the TDV8 or TChip a TDV6

I'd avoid the V8 4.4. It's a real non seller in the UK, same thirst as the SC but with less power, and toys. (I know it's a bit cheaper)

It will be hard to sell on, probably the hardest out of the range.

The TDV8 will be an awesome car, expect prices to be high 50K's, and delivery in Jan/Feb at the earliest. L319 D4 HSE

From the comments i feel the TDV6 HSE sounds like the best car. I did drive one and it was really slow but the performance increase from a Chip could tip the scales.

Garry have you any idea of the 0-60 after the fitting of the chip, also what chip did you get and the costs.

How does it affect the warranty
