RRS 2011 facelift passenger airbag replacement.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this Range Rover stuff but I am hoping someone has some info on replacing the passenger side crash airbag on a 2011 Sport.
I realise the dashboard top needs to come off but after spending a age removing all the screws i could find, it seems the dash fits behind the centre console and removing that has me beat.
I can see some screws from the top but they are behind the wood trims and they just won't come off.
Does anyone have the info to remove this or am I going to have to resort to the main dealer Big Cry.
Thanks in advance, Mark.

No idea but personally I would never play with airbags myself. Does the cost of a main dealer visit really come into it in the event of an accident where it could save someone's life?

Provided you disconnect the battery first and allow ample time for the system to discharge, you should have no issues with the Airbag, I have removed the Steering Wheel One on numerous occasions as well as a Passengers One.

Can I ask why you need to replace the Passengers one because if it has gone off you will surely need to repair the Dash as well?. To remove the Complete Top Dash section is quite a bit of work as I found out when I changed one.

It is possible to replace the Airbag with out removing the Dash Completely, however you would need to be very careful as you would be undoing the securing bolts of the Airbag by feel as opposed to sight and you would have to make sure you are undoing the one's that retain it, Not the One's that hold it together.

Cheers

Hi Col. Thanks for your reply. The first thing is, the airbag has gone off so there is no risk of explosion anymore.
I have got the airbag nuts off and it moves around in the void but it doesn't seem to come out through any of the spaces. The dash is all undone but it won't move much as it is hooked into the centre console. Is there a trick to moving the dash or does it need to be removed. This would seem to mean the centre console has to come out first.
Thanks, Mark.

Hi Mark,

Are you replacing the dash as well? because would it have not been damaged when bag went off.

It is possible to remove Dash without removing centre console, but it's quite fiddly and very slow process removing two of the screws, it really is a question of which is the lesser of two evils but it should allow enough movement in the dash not to have to remove it from car completely. I will do my best to explain how if you wish.

Cheers
Col

Hi Colin. I would be very grateful of any tips to remove the dash top. Do the vent ducts have to come out with the dash as they are causing the problem with the centre console.
Alternatively, any tips on removing the centre console would be great.
Have you ever used Topix from land Rover?. I don't want to pay to use it then find it is of no use.
Thanks, Mark.
