Speed camera detector?

I'm (fairly) new here so please excuse if this has been asked before, I've a 2012 RRS & looking to fit a speed camera detector fitted. But rather than clutter up the dash with an aftermarket bit of kit can the software be installed into the existing sat nav?? If so from where?

SPEED LIMIT DISPLAY

Will pocketgpsworld display the current speed limit in your location on screen, Sat Nav GEN2.1?

No,

It is only a list of speed cameras and you import them as Points of Interest ( POI )

They appear on the screen, but the system does not "know" they are speed cameras and so does not understand any more than that.

So if you set up a proximity warning you will get a warning when you enter the proximity circle around it. so it does not understand direction of travel. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

It's about time this information and warning tone was incorporated into the maps.
You can get the info easy enough, but can't upload via USB etc to make work.
Our vehicles seem to be one of the few not covered by third party map additions, mainly due to LR had to install, although you can purchase the official maps now and upload by USB yourself, but price is still £169 for the Europe maps.
Not called Navteq maps anymore, can't remember off hand something like NOW or HERE. John

Hi Muddywheels

Looking to install a dashcam myself. Yours sounds great. Love the idea of cam alerts too. Was it easy enough to install?

For iOS and Android smartphone users there is a routing app from Navmii that not only gives you routing info but updated speed cam info with the speed limits given visually and audibly, live traffic info and roads works data. It is real Big Brother stuff as you can also see other Navmii users on the maps.......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I hardwired blackvue on my last RRS and it was easy enough

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic28640.html?highlight=blackvue

I now have a Disco Sport and hardwired Thinkware

http://www.discosportforums.co.uk/viewtopi...=Thinkware

Front camera GPS wouldn't work behind mirror like I had it previously on RRS with Blackvue but it does work in centre of screen under mirror as per Thinkware instructions - it's just not as neat but I want speed camera alert so necessary

Rear camera was trickier but managed to feed through tailgate however RRS2 owners have reported impossible to do so cable must be surface mounted apparently

I had reliability issues with Blackvues and the Thinkware looks better spec/price so I went for it this time Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Waze will give you some good speed camera information. A good quality radar detector and Waze is quite good protection. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
