Very happy with the final outcome. Just arrived at showroom, to be detailed on Monday morning and collection on Monday afternoon.

Last time I had a RRS detailed it took 5 day.I think they must be just Valeting it.

Scotland 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

Hi
Excuse my ignorance but why do new cars need detailing? What typically does it entail? 2015 RRS AB SDV6, Fuji White, Ivory
2012 RRS HSE SDV6, Sumatra Black and Ivory
Audi A5, 3.0 TDI, Gone

100% removal of any swirl marks, then either an expensive waxing or a similarly expensive sealant.

The sealants get my vote every time for a daily use car, and some of them can be very quickly and easily topped up after a few months.

I was quite impressed by the pre sale prep on mine, I have to say that the car prep team at my dealer is pretty damn near proper detailer standard. Not every dealer has the same - I have seen some brand new cars that badly needed paint correction. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Thanks. I thought it must be something like that, but wondered how much work a newly painted car would actually need.

Living in Oz, there are slight nuances to the meaning of words......

Thong = Flip flops
Snag = sausage
Plugger = Thong = Flip flops
Chook = Chicken
Bogun = Chav
Rego = Vehicle Registration
Servo = Petrol station
Root = errr...... you get the idea

In the UK we would call the dealer pre-delivery clean a valet, Here in Oz, it is referred to as being detailed. There are different levels of detail of course, just to make it more confusing. The detail that wilf mentions is more of a full detail with paint correction/protection.

Anyway - Chris and Wilf, you are both correct!!! Thumbs Up 2016 Range Rover Sport SDV8 HSE Dynamic (Indus Silver/Santorini Black Pano Roof, Ebony/Cirrus leather, custom grey Style 508 alloys)

Chris,

I opted out of any protection applications from the dealer (inferior products and extreme prices).....so they just do a light detail so it looks clean, shiny and new.

I have found that even at delivery the paint can contain swirl marks so today the car is being fully detailed (as per wilf's spec), and finished with:-

- Opticoat Pro ceramic paint protection to exterior and wheels
- Opti-Guard Interior Leather, Vinyl & Fabric Coating to interior
- Optiglass Pro to all external glass
- Carbon XP window tints (IMO essential to block out the UV in Oz)

With a 7 year warranty on the Opticoat, its worth the investment. (www.opticoat.com.au) 2016 Range Rover Sport SDV8 HSE Dynamic (Indus Silver/Santorini Black Pano Roof, Ebony/Cirrus leather, custom grey Style 508 alloys)

Have to smile at the lengths we will all go to, to make our trucks look smart!

I'm just as bad, anyone passing from my whole street stops and asks why I am cleaning it yet again, every time!

And then laugh when I jack it up to full off road height to make it easier to get to the sills............ MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.
