Bit of an odd one here. My 2006 sport keeps on blowing brake lights, 4 in just over a week ! The bulbs I've been using are from Halfords but I'm sure I've read somewhere on here that the car doesn't like after market bulbs only genuine parts, is this right ?

So the two original stop/tail bulbs failed at end of life and then the cheap replacements from Halfords didn't last long?

A familiar story. Order some bulbs from Land Rover or buy Osram branded from a decent motor factor; they are usually only about 50p each.

Poor quality bulbs can fit badly, have inferior terminals or can fail internally and cause a short. As the brake light circuit is connected to the CAN Bus faulty bulbs can cause chaos. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Don't purchase bulbss from halfords

Changed the stop/tail light bulbs foe LED's first in my D3 then swapped them into the sport at lest 4/5 years no problems and the so much brighter than normal bulbs.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Fitted new bulbs from dealer and so far seem ok and they were only a couple of quid each.
