Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I expect because I am old and remember spending the weekend working on my car in the hope it would make it through the week without breaking down. I find cars have become very reliable and would now be miffed if it did not start or broke down. Rust is not the problem it was once and power steering makes parking easy. There are main dealers that do help for instance the power steering pump failed on my wife's Mini Cooper which was 9 years old and I asked the girl on the desk if there would be any contribution from BMW a bit tongue in cheek really she said she would ask. Later that day she rang and said that they would pay everything except for the fluid as it had been serviced at a main dealer cannot grumble. I have had cars and trucks that have been lemons and once a lemon always a lemon so if you get one reject it.

I remember when you could open the bonnet and see driveway either side of the engine. And you could reach everything easily. Starter motor removal? 10 minutes, two or three spanners, a length of strong cord and a bit timber. Job done. But then the Datsun Bluebird wasn't exactly "nice" in any other way  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
