Yikes, that's steep. Assuming it's purely down to the car, I wonder if it's RRS's in general or the SVR in particular.

Trouble is, the RRS has had very bad press over the the number being stolen and it might be JLR are so keen to brush this under the carpet that they haven't come clean to the underwriters about what they have done to sort out the problem or else the underwriters simply do not believe JLR are capable of fixing it.

Either way, it's an example of a long climb back needed to recover credibility and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt there was some to start with. There needs to be some years now of an improving track record.

Sally, which insurer are you with (please don't say Admiral)? I think you'll need to shop around do but I think you did that last time. I think my premium (old dog, clean licence, retired, rural) was about £550 in my last renewal in October. Mark

It is Admiral! I'm going to Ring them tomorrow. I was worried that because they are getting stolen it has put the premiums up.
Grrr, and I'm a year older as of today so the prices should be going down!!!

Also, exciting news. I have ordered myself another Evoque for my daily drive today. A little brother for the SVR! 2012 Evoque

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Have you tried Land Rover Insurance? For me (58 1/2 years old, clean licence, living in rural Central Scotland, ungaraged car, two named drivers one who is 87 years old) they were by far the best deal I could get for the SDv6. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Try LR Insurance as Tim says. Their cover is by far the best. If they ask for too much (which they did in my case), try NFU Mutual also. I am with them and while they were not the cheapest for my SDV6 A/B (parked on driveway, urban location), their cover is good, customer service is excellent and they seem to have a lot more common sense than some other insurers Rolling Eyes If you're rural they may even be cheaper. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

NFU have made me very happy.

£600 including protected no claims. Feeling alot less suicidal now. And they will also add the Evoque to the same policy when it arrives in a few months. 2012 Evoque

That's great. I paid them more than double that for a lowly 3.0 Diesel Autobiography in September and still believed it was good value in terms of cover per £ for me compared to the rest. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Sally is your SVR MY16 as I wonder if that makes a difference with the supposed security fixes? I thought they were going to update all years key modules to stop cloning and so keep insurance down.

Mine (not SVR sadly) was £500 and something when I did it in January with Admiral multicar. MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

Admiral have just done the same to me £350 last year £780 this year!! Thud

I went on the comparison websites got a quote for £600 but what a massive jump. I'll give LR insurance a go before I make a decision. Dread to think what it will be next year we'll all be selling a lung or kidney just to afford to insure our cars!

LR insurance quote £1,680 When it first came up I thought it was their phone number Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Cheers Laurence.

It's a pity that once an insurance company gets a bad opinion of a car, it takes a lot to change their mind. I have a beaten-up 145k mile Impreza which I use for supermarket and airport duty - and which justified it's existence by picking up a dent in Luton Airport while I was at the Geneva Motor Show - but Admiral will not touch it. Instead, it's covered by Hastings Direct for peanuts.

Interessing that the LR tracker is seen as wanting - it's only a Cat 6 which does not require a separate driver fob which Cat 5 does. As you'd expect, LR are once again being cheap-skates, a day late and a dollar short.

Interesting about NFU, I have 5 cars with Admiral so I can see October, my next renewal, is going to be busy. The poor security record of the RRS was always going to be bad news and so it's turned out. Mark

Hi Dave,
The SVR is a MY15. NFU had a complete price overhaul last year and they tell me they are one of the best now. If you have a policy with them, they add additional discount onto the brokered price. I have made several equine claims with them in the past and they have been no trouble. If the car gets written off/stolen, they but you a new one if the car is under 2 years old. I think any one looking of insurance should at least give them a call 2012 Evoque
