Could be. The keys broken off mine so if I leave it attached I know I'm taking a risk that someone could just take it off. Thought they were quite secure if they were locked in though. |

AFAIK, they've always been a popular theft. Indeed it's a nice two-in-one deal for them to get both...

They are "removable" ................ What do you expect if you leave it in place all the time? I used to use my tow hooks a lot but always took them off the back of the car because I think they look ugly. Now I have a permanent one on the back of my 1996 Defender 90 and that does all my towing duties, they will steal the whole vehicle as that would be easier than just removing the towbar!. BTW I suffered several "key snapped off in the barrel" occassions, the local dealership got very good at replacing the barrel under warranty. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ours was stolen 2wks ago. Funny thing is we couldn't get the b-oody thing off. The dealer couldn't get it off to do the test and asked us to bring it back so they could have another go, we tried with a big homer, still no luck. Hated it being on permanently but would have preferred it being in the boot. How the hell has some scroat got the thing off. Just in the process of buying one off SI on here. |

You can buy a tow bar key off eBay for 2.99. I know I did it when I bought my car without getting the key for it.

Don't think so, it was locked on. Chris; It was parked in a multi storey where the car had never been before. We have the keys in the boot. |

I bet you any 'lock picker' thief type could get it off in seconds...for £100 quid in 1 min? Not traceable. Well probably not unless LR tie up every towbar to a VIN?

What are LR doing with all the ones that fail the inspection? Could they be passing them onto someone who is selling them on? |
