Could be various things including EGRs, turbo, turbo actuator, turbo hose, fuel pump/filter...

Thanks for yours!! Would the problem be shown up using a diagnostic tool? Or is it the case of looking for the answer to the problem by elimination? Grateful for your comments!! Andrew Kennedy |

Sorry I wasn't able to reply sooner. Yes, fault codes and live data from a diagnostic tool will be able to reveal the issue in many cases, or at least give a pointer in the right direction. |

Can an intermittent fault be recovered by the diagnostic tool. I ask because I have experienced the occasional fault message accompanied by loss of power, switching off and restarting has resulted in normal service being resumed. |

Yes, fault codes have various different states, so historic faults can still be seen. |

I have had exactly the same experience. Due I am told because I have not been using the engine to anywhere near is full potential - basically the exhaust fumes have gunged up a few sensors. You need to consult a garage who knows the workings of Land Rovers who would sort the problem out. Andrew Kennedy |

I have a 2006 4.2 supercharged. Engine fault light, I have been told likely to be EGR, have also been told no ESG on petrol engines. Definitive answer please and if EGR present where can I get same. Otherwise magnificent chariot, I smile every time I get in and smile even broader when that engine fires up, who needs a radio. |
