You must mean a 3.6tdv8 as they don't do a 4.0 diesel.

Welcome to the forum MOU. Don't let either topic put you off buying, do your research very very thoroughly and make sure that the cars /car you are interested in has a full documented history so that youy are aware of any pending big jobs. Unfortunately far too many people buy RRS without doing their research, buy cars that have been done up so they sparkle and smell lovely but have been badly neglected mechanically, and that is frequently why the car is up for sale. Land Rovers, all of them including Defenders, are very complex cars, the have expensive parts and they can hide abuse and neglect very well. Take your time and you will find that amongst all the tat there are well looked after cars out there. Concentrate on looking at cars that look as close to original as possible, big wheels and body kits might LOOK nice but often they cause premature wear and tear or hide body damage. I won't deny that they are expensive to run, they are not fuel efficicent, repairs and parts can be costly but when it is running well it is well worth the heartache that sometimes comes as part of the buying cost. Good luck with your search. With regard to reliablity I've owned lots previous Land Rover products, including previous RRS's (one a TDv8) only one of them has been a problem car and it was less than a year old, not a used one. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Ive had my TDV8 for 2 years now the engine has been rock solid, however I've needed to replace the electronic hand brake module, all discs and pads and sort some creaking on the front suspension lower arms etc.. I consider this a normal maintenance/proper vehicle upkeep. As mentioned previously have a good look through work carried out and service intervals. |
