Newbie...

Hi Guys'n'Gals....

Am having a bit of bother ATM. Have been looking at the possibility of a RRS TDV6 HSE for a while so I requested a brochure " of t'internet".

Got a flicky picky book - no list of specifications, no list of prices, options etc etc. No problem, I'll go to my nearest dealership ( Hunters in Guildford ) who also don't have a price or spec list. They offer me one for the RRS HST Shocked - not sure why....

I ask the salesman about finance and he says he needs to know about my deposit, mileage, required spec etc so I give him all of these ( £7K, 20kpa, black, privacy glass...thats kinda it - aorond £46K total ? ). Then he responds by telling me that he can't do me a finance offer because :

- There's a price rise due soon
- He doesn't deal with finance, and the guy who does is at lunch ( or more to the point eating his sandwiches in my view but nevermind ).

oh, and no test drive because he's going on holiday for 2 weeks

This is getting like hardwork Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

When I was in Bristol at the weekend at the balloon festival Embarassed the salesman there told me leadtimes are around 6 months. Hunters tell me 4 months.... Confused which is it ?

Is this just a poor dealer ( i've read about 2 x Hunters with bad comments ) or is this "the norm" ?

Also, any guesstimation of finance costs with the above downpayments ?

Sorry for all the Qs and being a moaning miney on post No.1 Very Happy

Welcome - I would avoid Hunters like the plague, I had poor service from them. I use Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton or there is a new dealer in Wandsworth - Dovercourt Land Rover. Lead times are still about 4-6 months I'm afraid but some dealers order cars with popular spec so that they have stock - would well be worth ringing around all local dealers. For a guide price for new go to the LR site http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Vehicles/Ra...erview.htm and click on build your vehicle in the left hand menu, bottom item.

Finance - you will be done by LR doing their finance but get them to quote. There are members of this forum who no doubt will give you some names of finance brokers who should be able to offer deals at about 7.5% or less. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Hi Damian,

The new 07MY pricing is different, however its been available to dealers for a couple of months

Based on your comments, I'd go to a different dealer - simple

re: finance - not sure - tend not to finance if I can help it Confused

haha.. well we do have nothing better to do!

Damian, don't let this put you off, i had a similar experience when i went to test drive one, they wouldn't give me the time of day.. but just persist, when they know you are serious, am sure they will change their atitude towards you. Unfortunately and fortunately, their vehicles are selling well, therefore they can afford not to be the best customer care reps in the world, i know this shouldn't be the case, but it is unfortunately..

thanks very much for your quick replies.. Very Happy

@ VA - will try Guy Salmon in Thames Ditton - I'm halfway between TD and Guildford anyway so it makes no odds to me. And I've had enough poor service from various dealerships to last me a lifetime Crying or Very sad

@ Kaine - usually, me too. My BMW was bought outright but its depreciated like a big heavy rock falling from the sky. And I'll be using the RRS for business so finance suits on this occasion

@ Kam - will do - thanks Very Happy

haha.. glad you took that well..
i think we should have a thread VA.. for your RRS specifically, tracking which parts are original and which are new.. so 4x new alloys as well now, is there actually a part of your RRS Exterior that was with the car when it left Solihull?
