Winter wheels from a Disco 3?

I've got the opportunity to have some unmarked 19inch wheels with almost new winter tyres from a 2009 HSE Disco 3. I would need to replace them with my 19inch scuffed wheels with rubbish tyres from my 2005 RRS. Is it OK to do a straight swap? I understand the tyre sizes are slightly different (255/50 and 255/55) and the offset may be very slightly different, but it seems within tolerance to me? The Disco 3 will no longer be used on public roads. Advice appreciated.

I bought a set of 19" wheels for my first RRS off a Disco3 member - they were RRS alloys he'd purchased for his disco but he couldn't use them as they didn't have correct weight rating I seem to recall

I looked into disco alloys for my last RRS but decided against it as they weren't in accordance with handbook so I'd have to inform my insurance company everytime I swapped them and be charged.

Much simpler to fit genuine set listed in handbook then no notification or charges required with most insurers Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Perfectly fine to put disco wheels on a RRs. The weight ratings in all aspects are higher for a disco, so no issues at all. Thumbs Up

They're exactly the same as the older full sized spare wheels you got on RRs (which were painted black) Bodsys Brake Bible

Black painted spare wheels have a reduced speed sticker on them don't they Confused

Information from my insurer was that provided I fitted alloys available from factory eg, SE alloys on my HSE there was no need to pay the admin fee twice a year and any additional modification premium which is why I didn't go disco wheel route and they have different size tyres and "J" measurement - I could of saved a few quid initially but over time paid it to insurer and in event of an accident investigation possibly faced questions especially with the blame culture today. I know they would be ok but it's not worth the hassle explaining it to a jobsworth official Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Disco3 alloys fit perfectly, as long as the car is not a SC or TDV8 with big Brembo front brakes. My old mans 19"from his Disco3 clear the rears in the SC nicely, quite obviously the fronts do not. Regards etc.,

Weight rating and size are LR spec for that car, they've only got the sticker on the spare to protect themselves. What if you don't do the wheel nuts up and are then doing 90mph, doing 50 is less damaging and it forces you to go and get a new tyre quicker. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

My black spare has a full size tyre on it. According to my tyre guy it's fine to run at normal speed in that case. The speed limit sticker covers them for when a non-standard size tyre is fitted as a spare. This results in different handling / braking ability hence the reduced limit. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

WOW!!!
That's a gamechanger for me. I actually never tried the front, as I was under (false now) impression that there is only one kind of 19" from a Disco3 that would fit, this being the wheel pictured below:

Hi,
I have a set of 20" that are std RRS pattern and tyre size for a hse, they are kept for best (selling Whistle )

RRS wheels with 255/55/19 ATR's and RRS wheels with 255/50/19 Winter tyres, both these sets were previously used on my D3.
Insurers had no problems which wheels and tyres were fitted to either vehicle as long as they were Genuine LandRover wheels Thumbs Up

And 255/55/19 have been fitted as standard to a RRS Whistle the G4 Thumbs Up

Wojtek, I have a very nice set of 19" RRS wheels with a set of winter and set of summer tyres. These could be delivered to Northern Poland free of charge at Easter if you want to buy them. They definitely fit a 2010 TDV8. Now sold 2010 TDV8 Santorini black, lots of extras and best car I ever owned, and there's been a few. I will be back.

I came back with an L405 FFRR

Whoa, that's obviously a tempting offer, thank you! However I have just (3 months ago) forked out almost 800 quid for a set of 20" winter tyres so am a bit reluctant to buy a (otherwise most rational) set of 19s... On the other hand we have just found and bought a set of winter 18s for my dad today, so he's catered for and I would be looking for a set of stock spider 20s for my SC to put some new summer tyres onto. They are more or less available for around 350-450 pounds in here, still I need to wait until probably April, my business needs investments first... Regards etc.,

You are correct - the disco member I bought my first 19" winter set from had a G4 RRS with 55 profile tyres and had a warranty claim rejected on suspension issue because they were fitted when it went to dealers.

Apparently when sold after G4 they had 55 set in vehicle and 50 set fitted in accordance with handbook technical specification

I've also read other members saying dealer never checked profile on warranty claims so it depends how keen they are Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
